Edge City Theta

Government

Edge City Theta (or just 'Theta') is ruled by, rather than the high-ranking nobles and mayors of the other Wyntran provinces, Princess Aurelia. One of the many smaller districts and settlements used to prepare her for a future of being Queen, it is one of her more impactful and (and possibly dangerous) controlled areas. She has decreed select individuals (chosen by the current queen and king of Wyntra) to be essential scouts for her; when she cannot be in Theta, which is often, they report back to her with decisions to make and verdicts to draw. Despite their general lack of power, these acting mayors do have the ability to dole out punishment on an immediate or trivial level that is deemed unworthy of Aurelia's input, and each has a general region of Theta that they have this relative control over.

Theta has a low cost of living; mainly because of the remarkably low life-span. While Myko and Delphone are hazardous for the Hydriasis in their polluted waters, Theta has a consistent level of radiation effects through the province because of their production of this kind of material. Even still, laws are strict and unforgiving; like all of Wyntra, even petty theft can be met with harsh judgement by 'wannabe' acting mayors and police.

Industry & Trade

Theta is an industrial city, specializing in nuclear power and chemical warfare. Though they are not a coastal city, they are close enough to the border that they have easy access to the below-seafloor tunnel connecting Wyntra to Tallos, and they are just out of radiation range from the Warfare headquarters meant for equipping Talosian Soldiers. Theta's food is mostly canned, and though it is little protection and an overall trivial detail, every food item is kept in metal or aluminum casing in attempts to protect it from the radioactivity through the entire province. Barely any of Theta's food supply comes from the lush, Eride agricultural fields of Eridana, and that that does are the scrap crops. Actually, a large portion of their food supply is actually bioengineered. To survive, Theta inhabitants are employed in the nuclear energy and chemical factory plants from as young as six years old; most of the time, they can choose, but both options are equally horrible and grueling. At the plant, there is no protection against the radioactivity besides occasional paper masks, which are almost entirely a placebo affect.

Infrastructure

Theta houses a loading point for the Tallos Military (or the Wyntran Army) to equip with chemical warfare and nuclear power by all means necessary. Though their specific stop does not travel on a clear-cut path through directly to the Tallos base, it is the last stop to the North; it is absolutely necessary for everything to be kept in working order. Also, the many factories for the manufacturing of this war equipment scattered through Theta are the key facets of the province, of which everything else revolves around. Unlike the oddly picturesque cobbles of Colmadin, or the marble of the Palace City, Theta's roads are semi-hard and very smooth. For chemicals that travel through the city, the streets must be very smooth for careful transport of this expensive (and dangerous) material, even if the end result is not very aesthetically pleasing. Besides the main Tunnel port in Theta, there is strangely little underground infrastructure because of the lack of Blood that flows to Theta in the first place; any more intervention could fatally damage what little they have.

Architecture

The architecture of Theta could be more accurately described as its lack thereof. The city is built to be purely industrial, and the only remotely aesthetically pleasing elements are the faint greenish glow anything touched by the city's radiation gives off. The ambassador and leader of Theta, Princess Aurelia, does not have much of an eye for aesthetics, and so this is low on their list of priorities. However, for what they have, Theta is mostly made of recycled materials, concrete, and aluminum. The roads are concrete (for Vein radioactivity protection) paved over with recycled asphalt for smoothness of transport. Living structures are built vastly with aluminum, garnering the nickname 'tin cans'. Despite the lack of culture and art represented in Theta's current state, old structures still have imprints of rebel graffiti, written with glowing, green, radioactive material mixed with stolen ground Cordisite (like what is used as a narcotic). Though it was a moderately expensive form of rebellion, it was rebellion nonetheless.

Geography

Theta is essentially an industrialized version of a tundra flatland; there is very little incline, and it is almost exactly parallel to sea level. Theta gets their water via a producer further south and more inland; closer to the Palace and wealth in general. Technically, they did have a lake, which could have been used as a reservoir, but it had to be dried and filled after Theta's industry became nuclear power and chemical warfare. The lake collected the radioactivity and unnatural chemicals, making any area near it deadly toxic, and through Theta lives were not considered a priority, their survival was still very important to Wyntra's prosperity as a nation.

Climate

The temperature of Theta is cold, but not cold enough to snow. It is hellishly windy, and the city is often racked with a freezing rain. Factory workers knocked unconscious and thrown outside are known to die of the sheer cold in the rain, with no one willing to save them or even to care a bit. Veins to Theta are violently unhealthy because of the city's less-than-thriving economy and societal health; though technically Theta is comparable to Myko and Gewhock in terms of income, the Colmadin sectors have a healthy, even thriving society. Comparably, most of Theta has lost the will to live by the age of eight.
