Astatine
Astatine is an extremely rare and mysterious element found only in the smallest traces within certain deep earth mineral deposits and unstable radioactive ores. In its refined form it appears as a dark, heavy substance that rapidly decays, releasing faint but dangerous energy as it breaks apart over time. Because of its instability, astatine is rarely encountered outside advanced arcane laboratories where scholars study the strange energies produced by decaying matter. Some alchemists believe these emissions can interact with magical forces in unusual ways, making astatine useful in highly specialized experiments involving necromancy, transmutation, or the manipulation of life energies. However, the element is notoriously difficult to isolate and almost impossible to store for long periods, as it slowly transforms into other substances while releasing harmful emanations. For this reason astatine is considered one of the most elusive and hazardous materials known to arcane scholars, studied more for its theoretical importance than for practical use.
