For centuries, humanity has tried its best and its worst in order to defeat the mortal part of their existence. There has been some successful attempts in warding of death over the years but it really depends on your idea of "success". Modern thanatologists believe that death is a direct part of being human and by trying to alter the limits of your body and soul you cease to be the member of homo sapiens sapiens and usually become something... else.
Spoiler alert: this particular spell creates zombies so, do not try it on anyone you actually like. And yes, there is a thing called consensual necromancy, so, technically, zombification is not illegal, but only frowned upon in Taresh.
