One of the younger members of the renown Mercier family, Marcel runs an occult shop in Taresh and so far, he's still alive. With most of his parts and brain cells in one place. And no, it's not the jar above the counter, that's uncle Howard. Yes, it is for sale.

Motivation

He likes to be able to test his knowledge and abilities but he hates going outside and actually... experiencing stuff. He loves more than anything to stay at home, with his cats and his things and just invent and play around with random magical garbage that has found his way into his possessions. But he needs a constant stream of new additions to his collections so running a shop is like a heavenly opportunity for him and he has no thought of expanding or going anywhere else. He likes his little corner of Taresh filled to the brim with weird shiny things.
So you could say he like crafting and logical challenges the most. Also, nothing can motivate him like a good book on a topic he hasn't read about yet. He's an ADD magic nerd through and through.

Contacts & Relations

He's bit of a hermit and he does not really go out of his shop unless he really wants to or really, really has to. Which is rare. But he does have a solid base of regular customers that come by now and again and bring him weird stuff or even just some local gossip and maybe a home made dessert to try. He seems to be well loved but keeps the majority of people at bay.
Dora is also one of his regulars and they seem to have some kind of a sibling love/hate relationship and like to bicker and annoy a bit. He hates when she touches his stuff, because she breaks things and she hates when he keeps her waiting and gets easily bored and curious when there is so many cool things on display around her. But on the other hand, Dora always brings Marcel something extra that he cannot expect from his other sort of customers, so despite him being constantly annoyed with her, he is equally excited when she drops by. She'll most definitely sell him something new and dangerous and broken and therefore he will have something new and cool and dangerous to make. One more mystery of the occult world solved.
Some close associates of his started calling him Genie to honour the fact that no matter their wish, he is able to get it for them. In a nice condition and for a suitable price of course. No wish is without a catch. It's important to know your mythology.

Family Ties

He doesn't really keep in touch with his family after the death of uncle Thomas. It is safer that way. The only exception are his two twin nieces (Ema and Ela) who are five and fell over the heels in love with Moon Moon and demand updates about her well-being. Plus Marcel likes to make a new toy for them for every Winter Solstices.

Religious Views

All the gods and saints and devils and spirits seem to be rather annoying. His show is always haunted by something but never for too long. Sometimes a priest wonders in, ready to give him a chance to redeem himself and repent for his sins, then he notices his full name, turns on his heels and goes away. Devils are chill and bring him good coffee.

He is very charming. One look at him and no matter your sexual preferences you know why the Mercier lineage hasn't died out long time ago, because despite all their curse business, their other genes are... how do you say... yummy. Marcel knows damn well he's super-mega-awesome-foxy-hot and is so not afraid to use it.
