Session 24

Giggo Hanno, the Miltonite mage who's room we searched, we all together in the wagon to discuss what we found. Giggo's alibi of being in the garden, confirmed by Permessa, means he couldn't have been two places at once.

Syth knocks on our door to invite us to the Mourning Feast for Ellyln. Syth does not know who might have benefit from her death. Since we have time, we're going to the outer gardens to see if we can find a flower like the one we found in Giggo's room. We arrive at the outer garden. Luna inspects the garden pool and it seems to be brackish. Clearly not purified by a fey.

Luna begins to inspect the rose bushes and we are attacked by several shadowrealm thorn creatures. The creature attacks twice, missing both times due to Luna casting Shield. Icarus pleads with the creatures in elvish who don't respond. Icarus then reaches out with Shocking Grasp dealing 3 lightning damage. OLYE smashes the same thorn creature for 8 force damage. Another creature using Grasping Vines in a 20 ft radius restraining OLYE, Luna and Icarus manage to save. Since all 3 creatures are grouped, Luna casts Moonbeam dealing 15 damage to two of them and 7 damage to the last. The creature closest to Luna runs away out of the Moonbeam only to be hit by Luna's attack of opportunity for 9 fire damage which seemed to be very effective. Icarus shoots the singed creature for 12 piercing damage. OLYE breaks free from the Grasping Vines. The last creature goes shooting a barb at Icarus for 9 piercing damage. Luna moves the Moonbeam across all 3 creatures dealing 5 radiant damage. Icarus shoots the creature closest to Luna for 7 piercing damage. OLYE follows up with a slam attacking the creature closest to Luna for 15 force damage. Luna moves the Moonbeam to both creatures dealing 4 radiant damage to both. The creature closest to Luna attacks her, OLYE interposes himself deflecting the attack. It attacks again and hits for 9 piercing damage. Luna maintains concentration. Icarus shoots a creature for 9 piercing damage and OLYE smashes it for 15 force damage killing it.

The last remaining creature attacks Icarus twice missing the first one and missing with the second, only due to Shield. Luna moves the Moonbeam around to the last remaining creature. Icarus finishes off the last remaining creature with an arrow dealing 10 piercing damage and OLYE dealing 10 force damage.

Several gnome guards arrive several minutes later.

We search the area and near the well and find roses which match the rose petals we found in Giggo's room. Icarus cast Identify on the rose confirming they are magical and they can be used in alchemical processes to enhance them. Example, to create a stronger healing potion.

We collect 5 roses to give to Mickey later. We are also told the creatures are called Children of the Briar and they are common throughout both the Shadowland and the Brightlands. We get back to the wagon, and talk with Mickey.
