Several days pass after the ball and we decide to go to the library to look for another job. As we're looking at the job board an urgent job appears, something about a salamander running wild close by. Just outside the library we see people running out of the Firejolt Cafe. As we pushed against the crowds into the cafe we see the fire salamander.

Luna runs in, seeing a unconscious patron. Luna casts healing Word on the patron. Icrus runs in as well with OLYE trying to subdue it. Koda follows casting Ray of Frost and hitting dealing 8 damage with it being very effective.

The salamander burns all around it for 4 damage and misses. Nyx distracts the salamander while Luna transforms into a giant crab successfully hitting it and grabbing it for 6 non-lethal damage and holding it. Mickey arrives and true strikes the salamander with his mace and hits due to the salamander being grappled for 6 damage and casts sanctuary on the downed person activating his Arcane Ward for 10 temp hp.

Icrus attacks non-lethally with a staff but misses. Koda casts Command, ordering it to halt, but the salamander resists the effects of the spell. Luna crushes the salamander non-lethally for 6 damage knocking it unconscious. We send a message paper to Professor Fisk who this salamander belongs to. A few minutes later he appears and pays us 150gp for our work.

As we leave the Firejolt Cafe every prayer bell in the city ring simultaneously... signaling the passing of the Duke.

As we return to the college proper, we find Bithany, who is engaged in speaking with several groups of the more well connected or prestigious founding families. Bithany sees us, but continues her conversations. Luna determines that this is a Teresta issue and we are the outsiders, if she doesn't need us. Irma comes up to us and confirms that the Duke has passed, likely from old age. Helena Besscan is the captain in charge of the city overwatch.

3/8/753 ATC

Several more days pass and Bithany is super busy with her founding duties and academy duties. She asks us to accompany her to a ceremony coming up.

Professor Fisk is knowledgeable able about where the leylines were vs where it is now.

Since we have a few days, we go down to the library and take another job. The job is to recover leyline-harvested crystals stolen during a warship launch for the Magewright guild.
