Liber Numerorum

Note: Horatio, I posted this in the Lore section, but as you have not seen fit to release it there, I have recreated the content here in Discussion.

I have perused the material upon this Bulletin Board System, and I must congratulate the members responsible for compiling the description of Magic. Save for the ancients and myself, it comes closer to the truth than any other in this benighted age. While it is still far from the complete model I have derived from the ancient sciences, I must commend you upon how much you have wrought from the crude tools at your disposal. You have shown yourselves ready to learn the true nature of the cosmos, as I have described in what may prove to be the most significant work of scholarship since Hesiod: The Liber Numerorum.

------- The Liber Numerorum -------

This work, which I have compiled from the ancient fragments and from a deep analysis of the cosmos, is a complete description of the universe, including the esoteric forces that you have categorized as Magic. These are not, of course, supernatural in the colloquial sense; rather they represent those areas of science which modern man has failed to retain or reclaim after the collapse of the Golden Age (that period which you charmingly call "Atlantean", but more properly corresponds to Hesiod's "Golden Age", which I have conclusively dated to 7700 BC to 5550 BC).

During this era, mankind's understanding of the universe far outstripped the meager scientific understanding of the current day. Forces which are only now beginning to re-emerge were commonplace; these are the same forces you have observed and which upend the narrow materialism that hobbles most scientists. By devoting myself to the study of the ancient knowledge, particularly that of arithmancy, which has been neglected by most scholars since the death of Pythagoras, I have reconstructed the map of the future by which one can navigate the new age which approaches. By these means, and other corroborating sciences such as astrology, geomancy, and Kabbalah, I can say that we are now experiencing a cosmic spring, when forces barely known throughout recent history are returning to an ascendant place. They shall continue to increase in their potency until the year 12,028 AD, after which they will slowly recede again, until we once again experience a cosmic winter such as that from which we are now emerging.

This will, of course, create dramatic changes to the world as it is today, and will require men of great perspicacity to guide mankind to a new Golden Age, in which humanity reclaims its ancient, long-lost birthright. From what I have read here, I can see that many of those with the potential to lead have been drawn to this forum, as I have - indeed, I derived the number assigned to it via the application of the ancient science of arithmancy. I believe that the cradle of the world to come is here, and that you and I are the forerunners of the new epoch. And so I offer my magnum opus to you. The *Liber Numerorum* shall be your north star, showing the path to those who can see, and allow you to lead others less gifted onto the path. If you are ready to learn the truth of the cosmos, I am ready to teach it to you. The door stands open; the future awaits. Come forth, and learn.

There are a lot of very confident statements here - are you prepared with any evidence to back them up? And don't tell me all you have is numerology - that's BS.

This sounds very familiar - did you try to get this published through the UC Press a while back? I recall talking to a colleague who had read it for review...they said it stated that the Masons, and by extension the US government, was using numerology (or arithmancy, if you prefer) to dictate the placement and construction of buildings to ensure the primacy of the United States?

Ah. This looks like an interesting discussion - about to become contentious?

Likely. I am still working on the character of Tetraktys but I am sure he does not tolerate criticism well. Very fragile.
