Elysium

Purpose / Function

The building was originally a warehouse and it's offices. When it was purchased, they had to do a lot of work to turn the offices into a liveable flat, although luckily there was already a kitchen so it wasn't too bad.

Now it is a social space that welcomes a wide variety of people for many different activities, including live music nights.

Alterations

Alterations were required to convert the building from a warehouse and offices to a large hall with stage and bar and the flat where Benji and Skye live. These were done by Benji's father before they moved in, though Benji and Skye did have a lot of input into the design so the flat is well suited to them.

In more recent years, they have expanded into the building next door so the living area is larger, with a couple more flats that they rent out to some friends.

Architecture

From the outside, the building is very similar to the other old warehouses and former office blocks to the point where many people visiting for the first time initially think that they are in the wrong place.

Inside, the industrial steel beamed ceiling is decorated with twinkling fairy lights which look like stars in the darkness when you look up. That was Skye's idea and when he can't sleep he will often go down there to stare at them.

Defenses

When they moved in, Skye placed some magical defences as protection from his family should they ever try to hunt him down. These were strengthened when they had Selene, to protect her after everything that happened to her cousins when they were little.

Tourism

They have many frequent visitors and others who have travelled to visit. Often people who are visiting for the first time are confused by the unusual venue but they are always amazed once they step inside.
