It is here that Rusti Woods, ex-soldier, shapeshifter, and survivor of too many buried horrors, wakes up after being taken from her home on Earth.

Already blind and mute from the violence of her past, she’s now forced to train as a gladiator aboard The Helgafell - a ship that ferries the broken and unwilling to offworld bloodsport under the watchful eyes of an Earthling risen far above typical human stations.

She isn’t the only one under control: Vor, an alien warrior bred for combat, lives by the rules of bloodsport; and Dr Kenzie, another Earthling, tasked with keeping them alive long enough to fight again, holds a number of her own secrets left to unravel.
