Webb
Webb is a cloth material composed of a fiber extracted from genetically modified flax plant woven together with fiber optic nanocables. The natural fibers provide excellent breathability and otherwise makes for comfortable wearing. The artificial fibers allow articles made with Webb to change their colors on the fly, and form the basis of the material as a smart fabric (and thus can be used to embed computing power and other "smart" functions). As a result, Webb is highly sought after as one of the most popular materials for smart clothing, especially in the luxury market where comfort and aesthetics are prized.
Properties
Physical & Chemical Properties
Webb is a generally solid material that is composed of a composite of fiber optic cabling and specialized linen. It generally possesses the physical and chemical properties of both. In practice however, most modern bolts of Webb are treated for various environmental problems, often treatment against certain atmospheres, which has an impact on how the material reacts to a wearer as well as to specific chemical, temperature, and pressure stimuli.
History & Usage
History
Webb is an older material, or at least it has relatively ancient routes. The first recognizable variants of would become known as Webb arose in China in the middle of the 21st century. This early version was, by the standards of the time, fairly simple, and was thus incorporated in the First Generation of SBT designs. Since then, many newer variations of Webb have been developed, evolving alongside SBT and eventually evolving without it. In the modern era, several types of Webb can be found on the market, from the ancient, and highly practical original, to highly chic luxury Webb found in the fanciest of summerwear.
Everyday use
Webb is used as a smart fabric, and is common in many types of clothing. The overwhelming majority of the clothes made with it tend to have computers integrated, though there are some that use the smart properties of Webb based clothing solely for aesthetic reasons. As it is made of a natural (if genetically modified) plant fiber it is generally seen as being slightly luxurious. This means that although some practical work clothing is made of Webb, especially older versions of it, most are used for fashion, especially street fashion, though some major labels in the high fashion industry have made use of the material.
