Aegis
Aegis is an enchantment that is known exclusively to the Emberhand Legion, placed on every soldier's armor and weapons as well. Its purpose is negating magic damage, and it is thanks to it that they have been able to outlaw it in Fortressia in the first place.
Of course, if you are persistent, you can still burn a legionary to a crisp as a pyromancer. It will only take you much longer to do so, time which, let's face it, the legionary will probably spend hacking off your head.
Effect
As invisible as it is, Aegis shields the wearer from most projectiles hurled at them through magic. It does not negate said magic as much as it makes the wielder less vulnerable to it.
Side/Secondary Effects
By itself, the enchantment is fairly harmless but, much like all enchanted items, should the equipment be broken, the unleashing of its magic into the world might destabilize things nearby. Expect anomalies, monsters or natural disasters. The usual.
Manifestation
While completely invisible during quiet moments, upon being "triggered", Aegis makes the equipment glow golden and red, a barrier through which magic struggles to penetrate.

Effect Duration
A lifetime, if you treat your stuff properly.
Range
Only around the soldier's armor, unless a barrier of shields is made. Aegis effectively makes an object a physical barrier to magic attacks.
