Undead Options

Skeleton

A skeleton is a template added to any base race, this template changes the base creature's type to Undead.   Skeletons are the animated bones of the dead, brought to unlife through foul magic. While most skeletons are mindless automatons, they still possess an evil cunning imparted to them by their animating force—a cunning that allows them to wield weapons and wear armor.

Skeleton Traits

 
  • Ability Score Racial Traits: A skeleton has its Intelligence score lowered to 3, it's Wisdom score lowered by 2, and it's Charisma score lowered to 5. All other abilities are unchanged from the base creature.
  • Type: Skeletons are undead, they retain their sub-type from their previous race.
  • Size: Skeletons retain their old size.
  • Speed: Skeletons retain their old movement speed.
  • Languages: Skeletons understand all languages it knew in life, as well as the language of Necril, but cannot speak
  • Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Undead: As an undead creature, the skeleton is immune to Poison damage and the Poisoned condition. Since the skeleton does not have Blood, it is immune to Bleed damage and the Bleeding condition.
  • Bones: A skeleton is vulnerable to Bludgeoning damage.
  • Claws: A skeleton gains a claw attack as a natural weapon. This attack deals 1d4 + Strength or Dexterity slashing damage.
 

Zombie

A zombie is a template added to any base race, this template changes the base creature's type to Undead.     Zombies are the animated corpses of the dead, brought to unlife through foul magic. While most zombies are mindless automatons, they still possess an evil cunning imparted to them by their animating force—a cunning that allows them to wield weapons and wear armor.

Zombie Traits

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: A zombie has its Intelligence score lowered to 3, it's Wisdom score lowered by 2, and it's Charisma score lowered to 5. All other abilities are unchanged from the base creature.
  • Type: Zombies are undead, they retain their sub-type from their previous race.
  • Size: Zombies retain their old size.
  • Speed: Zombies retain their old movement speed.
  • Languages: Zombies understand all languages it knew in life, as well as the language of Necril, but cannot speak

  • Undead: As an undead creature, the zombie is immune to Poison damage and the Poisoned condition.
  • Undead Fortitude: If damage reduces the zombie to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the zombie drops to 1 hit point instead.
  • Staggered Movement: A zombie has their walking speed reduced by 10 feet; in addition, whenever they are damaged by radiant energy on a turn, they cannot take the dash action until the end of their next turn.
