Identify
Effect
You choose one object or creature that you must touch throughout the casting of the spell. Make an Intelligence (Arcana) check and compare it against the Identify DC as given below, based upon whether you are targeting an item or a creature. Identify does not work on structures.
When identifying an object, you must make this check against a DC equal to 5 + half of the craft DC of that item + 2 per Enchantment Tier the item possesses, for example a Superior quality T3 Minor Rare enchanted suit of Mountain Plate would have an Identify DC of 23. Identifying additional information can increase the DC, as listed below. On success you learn the following:
- If it is a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement to use, and how many charges it has, if any.
- You learn whether any spells are affecting the item and what they are.
- If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it.
- (+5 DC): You learn if the item is under the affects of any curses.
- You visualize the Draft Blueprint tied to the item, if any, and can replicate it with a Calligrapher's check of an equal DC as per Crafting rules, so long as this process is started within 1 day of the casting of this spell.
- You learn what spells, if any, are currently affecting the target creature.
- (+5 DC): You learn if the target is under the affects of any diseases, curses, or poisons.
