Welcome to Ethlon
Ethlon Tour Guide for Maiaaks
Ethlon
Neira: Welcome you formidable Maiaaks! As most of you know, Ethlon is the realm of the Humans, and to most of you, humans are the most mundane creatures you have ever encountered. So what exactly is exciting about Ethlon? Well, you picked coming here, so clearly Ethlon has some sort of appeal to you. But if you're watching this, it's because you want to know how humans entertain themselves, and that's why I'm here! So sit down, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!
Nox: Uh, Neira, don't you think you're being a bit much?
Neira: You're not being enough.
Nox: ...right. Lets start with key locations.
Locations
Aegis
Neira: If you aren't aware that this place is your starting point, then we already have a problem. Even for simple vacation visitation, as a maiaak, Aegis is your travel check point. Here you get checked into the human realm. But they don't stop there. They have lodging locations to make your visit easier, and even a location on site to help you figure out your exact destination and how to get there. They'll even answer your inquiries about local attractions.
Heliora Academy
Nox: This is a great place to start if you're a young maiaak and want to integrate with humans. Heliora Academy is the first school in Ethlon to combine both maiaak and human etiquette. So you'll have your own traditions and education to make you feel at home, all while learning to coexist with humans.
Lazarus
Neira: If you happen to be in proximity in the downtown location, Lazarus is one of the most unique skyscrapers humans have built. Surrounded by underworld themed sculptures, with it's twisted axis, and a giant skull on top, it has an indoor mall and lodging. Also, if you happen to require connection with the dead, well, just go further up and you'll be greeted by the Necromancers.
Xave
Nox: This one will have to be booked, but worth it if you're interested in human technology advancement. Xave is known for their advanced AI, psychological driven technology, and the cyber realm. Their tour guides would be more than happy to show you the inner workings.
The Ninth Door
Neira: If you want a little down time, drink, and maybe socialize with familiar creatures, this is your best place. Both human and maiaak alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages are very popular here. It's considered to be a maiaak safe house, so you're free to be yourself. Also, if you're inquiring about information or rare goods, the owner might just happen to have what you're looking for. But I must admit, the food menu is a bit overpriced.
Nox: Agreed.
Outing Activities
Neira: There are a lot of local activities that can be done all across Ethlon.
Theme Parks / Festivals
Check out your location for theme parks and festivals. They're all over the world, for all sorts of reasons, and there are all sorts of things you can do when you get there. Ride the rollercoaster - which is a cart that goes at high speeds that twists, turns, and goes upside down all for thrills! If it happens to have bumper cars - make sure to ram strangers extra hard, because why not? Don't forget to not bring food. Overpriced? Yes. Worth it? Completely. So make sure to go with a hole in your stomach. I do not mean that literally.
Paint Ball
Know what a gun is? No? It's a hand held device that you point, aim, and shoot to hit a target. One of many weapons us humans created because we have to be destructive somehow. Anyways! Paint Ball is where you run around with said gun, point, aim, and shoot at others - without killing each other. You're shooting paint balls. What did you expect? It will hurt though.
Underground Arcades
Find yourself enjoying the human electronic games? Great! Why not put your skills to the test? Not everywhere, but spread out across all of Ethlon are underground arcades. All connected to put your name on the global scoreboard. Each location has all sorts of games for all sorts of gamers. Just beware of the Russians. They're attempting to hog the top scores.
Nox: Neira, all of those are a bit... exhausting.
Neira: And dare I ask, what would you recommend?
Nox: There are less strenuous activities as I am sure some would enjoy a more relaxing outlet.
Museums
There are different kinds of museums all over Ethlon that serve various purposes. Some are history, art, and technology. All very educational on what humans like and have done.
Local Cuisine
Be sure to do heavy research of your local area as various foods are served in all locations. Italy is known for their pasta. Japan is known for fresh fish, tempura, and street food like takoyaki, and Germany is known for hearty comfort food like their Sauerbraten which is a marinated pot roast.
Neira: I'm going to stop you there. You have got to have listed some of the most boring things a maiaak can do.
Nox: Not everything has to be intense... But since you insist...
Bicycling
Is a relaxing way to get around. There are even bike trails so you can ride through nature.
Neira: Or you can have fun with it, and race around, or get a mountain bike and do tricks off the edge of a cliff!
Nox: Or that...
Personal Activities
Neira: There are some personal activities you can do as well if you don't feel like slapping down cash for everything you do. I have a few activities in mind that you can try out for yourself.
Hide & Seek
This one I find particularly fun because it tests your awareness. You can start small and play in the neighborhood (totally not boring). But if you wanna go big, make the city your playground, and see if you can find your friends with the help of your senses. Or, vice versa, if you want to see if you can hide from your bestie or one of the more keen animals that is considered man's best friend.
Nox: Dogs.
Neira: For those of you that don't get it.
Tag
This is my favorite! Again you can stick to the neighborhood, but if you really want to amp up the stakes, make the city your playground! It tests awareness, reflexes, and even adaption.
Nox: Adaption?
Neira: I know, you know that I am not talking about basic human tag.
Nox: Of course.
The rules are simple, do all you can to tap your opponent out. But do try to stick to hitting above the belt. Yes, I said hitting. No, you're not trying to knock out your opponent! And if you're the one trying not to be tagged, well, your job is just as easy! Don't get hit. Hope your dodging skills are on point. You can always spice this game up by doing it in teams, and the team that gets everyone on their side or has the most by time up wins! Plain and simple. Or a third possibility - bring in those four-legged human loving creatures and see if they can catch you!
Nox: Dogs.
Neira: Again, for those of you that don't get it.
Sparring
Yes, the keyword here is sparring. All you maiaaks are always at each others throats. Why don't you try taking each other out, without actually killing each other? This way you learn awareness, reflexes, adaption, and restraint. Trust me, restraint can be a good thing.
Nox: Neira... once again, those all are strenuous. What if they just want to relax?
Neira: Dear lord, I don't even want to ask.
Nox: Things they can also try are...
Cooking/Baking
While you can go to classes, you can just as easily learn from home. The best part is that you're not restricted to any particular cuisine. Although, some ingredients may be harder to find due to location. But if you know where to look, you can find a lot of different local shops.
Reading
There are all sorts of material to read. Be that something you would like to further educate yourself in, or for leisure. The human imagination expands all sorts of ideas beyond what even maiaaks would think about.
Neira: You're not contributing at all.
Nox: Fine...
SAVR
If you're just visiting, you'll have to rent the equipment. But being able to enter into the human cyber world is a whole new world to discover. You can do relaxing activities like visiting the ocean. Or be extreme and shoot your opponents to your heart's content without worrying about killing them.
Neira: ...not a bad redemption
Don't Forget to Have Fun...
Neira: There is plenty to do in Ethlon. Far more than what we have listed. So look around at your local activities and attractions and don't forget to have fun.
Nox: Or relax.
Neira: Go home if you're not sky diving.
Nox: Neira.
Neira: What?

This is such a fun article!!!
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it. ^^
