1: Pledge

Hello hello, all!

Been a member for a good while, but I didn't start participating in anything until WorldEmber '25, so this is my first time doing Summer Camp! Must admit, I am very nervous. Especially since I've been kind of MIA. Which leads to my pledge: I pledge to complete 8 prompts. Seriously low balling it because I haven't exactly been active and I'm not sure what all to expect from this challenge. But of course, if I find I can do more, I'll definitely do more than 8 prompts.

2: Choose your Area of Focus

I am going to go with my vez'ool wolf species. I know it says to "pick either a geographical area or an area of knowledge (such as magic, factions, etc)". But the first thing that came to mind was my vez'ool wolf species since they are the newest and currently growing topic in my world. Not much is known about them, so I'm hoping these prompts will be more inspirational and get my creative juice flowing for them.

Week 1 - May 30th: 1

Review & update your homepage & world primer:

My homepage has gone through many recent renovations. Mostly with newcomers in mind. With that said, to stay in the spirit of things, I decided to give a quick review nonetheless, and made a few changes. Not a lot, but I think it looks a little less cluttered and redundant now.

One of the changes was adding a Primer to the homepage! In all honesty, I thought a primer was meant for TTRPG only, but after figuring out what it is, it sounds really helpful to introduce any type of world. Be it TTRPG or a writers's. So I went ahead and added a primer. I am honestly very nervous if I made it "right". I know there is no right or wrong, but I didn't want to overstep and lore dump. But I hope it isn't to scarce either, haha.

Week 3 - June 13th: 1

What's your typical creative process and routine?

I don't really have a creative process. I tend to get excited about an idea, and become fixated on it. I start running what if scenarios to explore the idea. Honestly, that's about it. I can't even say I write it down, haha. Now that I think about it, I probably should write it down.

Week 2 - June 6th: 2

I rolled a 2, but I think I'm going to try to do all 4.

Why did you choose this area of focus? Why is it fun to write?

I choose wolf vez'ools because it was literally the first thing to come to mind when I saw the prompt: growth. They are currently the growing topic of my world, and, funny enough, I just randomly thought about them a few days ago. Thinking: they are becoming a very big influence, but I don't know much about them. So it would be nice to explore the unknown and see what I get out of it.

I would prefer to do left, but I don't have any articles related to them. This oughta be fun.

How does your area of focus interact with the rest of the world?

Good question. Especially since I don't know. The more obvious interaction is a pack joining Heliora Academy which means they are willing to try to learn to coexist with humans (and other maiaaks (monsters)). The second is the Big 5. The Big 5 are the five pillars of the underworld. Two of the five are still shrouded in shadows. The other two that are known is known what they do and how they influence. But the wolf pack? Although they have revealed themselves and their surface career, how they influence is still unknown. What role do they play in the underworld? Why are they one of the Big 5? Who knows. I might find that answer doing Summer Camp haha.

Take a break and re-energize before Summer Camp begins!

Optional - Warm Ups

Write a Settlement that's associated with love.

I must politely decline doing this warm up. Not because I don't want to, but because, as I mentioned, love isn't exactly the focus of my world. So to have a settlement dedicated to love is kind of... way out there for Submersus Animus. But hey! If I do magically think of something, I'll happily add it.

Write a Geographical Location boasting different kinds of ecosystems.

I think might skip this one as well.

Write a Language lost to time.

I'm surprised I have another language at all - and I wouldn't count it as a language. Let alone do one lost in time. So, sadly, again I must skip.

Write a Myth that reveals the "true" meaning of family.

I'm coming up empty. But if I think of something, I'll try to remember to come back to write the article.
