WE2025 Summary
This year's WE was fun enough. I started late and had a bunch of stuff and distractions along the way, but I got it done.
As tends to be, I had no real theme for this time, but due to the ongoing project of rewriting stuff that is what I stuck with. As also tends to be, the articles I made are rather long and wordy. Nothing new there.
So, here's the three I got done:
4205 words
Of the three, this one was my favourite. Big shocker, it's a big sciencey tech article. This one was also very fun to write, as not only did it need me to do a lot of research, it also needed a lot of thought as to how stuff fits. It was also a much-needed fleshing out of the subject, and caused a bit of a ripple effect for a number of other topics, especially synthetics.
It is also expectedly a brick of a read, with some very obtuse writing and long paragraphs. Such is the nature of topic, for one, but I am also not a very brief writer. Bad combo for being good to read, or so. Still, fun article, and it's probably good. I sure think so.
2999 words
The Coalition is definitely one of the most important factions in the setting, so finally getting this article done was very important. And I think I did that pretty well. It was a bit of a departure from most of my nation articles, especially the STUN one, but that is by nature, the Coalition is very different to anything else around.
All things considered, I had very little actual development on the Coalition before this. The old article was practically worthless, there were some details here, some general vibes and feel here, a little bit in the Wargame Prototype, but not much overall. And so, I had to actually come up with brand new stuff from scratch. Rare, I know.
3011 words
This one was pretty neat. As it stands, it is a near-complete rework of the Wars of Control. Earlier, it was more of a conventional war in structure, and far more barebones, as is the trend with these. At one point, I just decided to add the entire section on the various fleets, mostly to pad out the wordcount but to also illustrate some variance with the Cellean empire. And to throw Stringer and Mad into there too.
It also marks the start of the Cellean timeline rework, something I have been putting off a lot and finally forced myself to get on with. That's a background project, as it were, but I will try to get it done soon-ish. Some articles will get minor changes, mostly in date, like involved characters, some larger adjustments like the Cellean autocratic space article proper or ones like the The Flight of the Halven.
That's that for me. This is not a reading challenge or resolution thing, I don't care for those, but it is a summary.
(this should have gone into the monthly updates but I forgot so here they are lmao) If you're interested/invested/the like in SJ, stay tuned for January and February, I have a few plans. I want to get the Mars and Asteroid Belt pictures done in January, and then Jupiter, I think, after that. I also want to get SJ as a whole, css and visuals and all, into shape for the Awards, and also get the Synthetics article done and dusted completely by then. That one is likely the most work, but not that much. What other articles I want to submit are still in the air, but I don't know if I have any that work. We'll see.
But that's it. See ya, adios, bye, etc. Good luck on those reading challenges, and so on.
