Gallery Template

Note from Annie: My galleries use custom containers I've made to use on Solaris. This article exists to make it easier for me to fetch the bb code when I'm setting up a new gallery or image. If you want to recreate a gallery like mine in your world, you'll need to write your own css for it to work. Feel free to inspect my css to see how I did it.

Gallery Types

Gallery Row

Imageblock rows are made to be used with image blocks, and show the description and additional info next to a larger view of the image.

Gallery

Two columns

[container:gallery two-columns] [/container]

Three columns

[container:gallery three-columns] [/container]

Four columns

[container:gallery four-columns] [/container]

Gallery Grid

These grids tile up much nicer, but only work if there's at least four images in it.

Image Descriptions

I use two variables in this template. [var:copy-info] adds the text "more information". This is part of a set of variables I call consistent copy, which helps me use the same wording across solaris, and also lets me change it all at once if I for example decide "click to see more" would be better.   Keen eyes may have noticed there's one too many [/container] blocks. That's because the container actually begins inside of the other copy variable I'm using, [var:copy-img-usage]. This container sets all articleblocks to be the small button block style, and it has a class I made called "page-image-only" which makes it hidden on all pages except the image full view.

I appreciate seeing these glimpses into your workflow. I'm also impressed with the extra work you put in to colorize the bbcode blocks. Your attention to details like that are always amazing.

I'm glad it's appreciated! The bb code for colouring the codeblocks is pretty rough in the editor, but I think the end result is worth it. Honestly, it helps break the habit of going to the edit side of the article to copy stuff out.
