The Galactic Union is an intergalactic organisation founded on principles of collective peace, mutual cooperation, and the harmonisation of its members' actions. At its height, it counted 167 planetary governments among its membership, making it the largest intergalactic body in the galaxy's history.

Creation

The Galactic Union was founded through an alliance of six space-faring species who joined forces against a common enemy, the Skorath. Their combined war effort proved successful, and in its aftermath the founding members chose to formalise their alliance into a lasting organisation. The founding principle was simple: that members would stand together against threats and cooperate for the betterment of all.

Disbandment

The sudden appearance of U'krhith into the galaxy brought destruction on an intergalactic scale, with countless species suffering severe depopulation in the fallout. The Galactic Union, already strained by the scale of the crisis, found no one willing or able to take up leadership of the organisation. Without a head, it effectively ceased to function as a unified body.

Despite this, the Galactic Union was not entirely forgotten. Many former members continue to follow its founding code and work independently to provide aid and assist in reconstruction efforts where they are able to, carrying the Union's spirit forward without the structure to support it.
