Christmas Snooping

On Christmas morning, in Vietnam, Lin Vu snoops through their dad's belongings in an attempt to find more answers and make sense of mysterious things...

It’s Christmas day and Lin is trying to investigate their mysterious father...
  LIN:
(turns on phone) Alright. It’s recording. (serious, methodical) Lin Vu, Saturday, 25 December, 2027. (sigh) He’s still gone. Yet again, not home for Christmas. Last night, I joined Mother, Minh, and Binh for the Christmas Eve festivals. They’re out again today, but I told them I’d catch up.
I believe Father has hardly been here since I last visited. I thought Mother said he was doing better about always being absent. I suspect she only wants me not to worry about the family.
There has to be something in here of note...some...evidence...of something...
(exerting as if trying to move something around) There was a false back...(strain) in this...(grunt) cupboard behind the clothes. (exhales in triumph) AHA! (victorious) I knew I was close to finding something when he caught me the first time. How unwise of him to leave it here.
Now...(studious)...let’s see...forged passports...tons of them. I don’t know what I was expecting to find, but it wasn’t this. It makes sense, though, with all the travelling he does. (curious) Hmmm...what’s this? A little black book. What are those? This isn’t Chữ Quốc Ngữ. It isn’t any language I recognize. I’m sure this is a code. I’ll attempt to translate it from this video once I get a free moment. But first, I need to film everything. I wish I could take the book with me, but that isn’t a good idea. This footage will have to do. There are also papers with rows and rows of numbers. I don’t know what they mean. It could be a code as well. (curious noises and inquisitive sounds) Hmmm.... Oh... mmhmmm...(whispers) wow...woah...Oh my. Oh no.
(gasps nervous, catches breath, holds chest, relieved) It’s only Ezekiel. (taps phone to text back, reads aloud while typing) Merry... Christmas... you... all. (smiles, presses send, exhales gently, puts phone away) Now, I’ve got to get out of here and catch up to my family before anyone suspects anything.
