The weather patterns across Sarvaria depend on where the prevailing winds are originating. These prevailing winds are a jet stream whose origins oscillate from the northwest in winter to the southwest in summer.
The Mohrland and Trakkaras Bubbles
Mohrland sits in what seems to be a static bubble of relatively high atmospheric pressure around which the prevailing winds bend. As a result, the jungles of that region tend to stay much warmer year-round than other parts of the map. Similarly, central Trakkaras boasts its own high-pressure bubble, which traps in cooler, dryer air. The result of the proximity of these two air masses is that they add a level of turbulence to the prevailing winds during the summer and winter days, causing more storms and chaotic weather.
Spring
The early days of spring bring relief to the eastern continent as the winds shift to a more west-to-east direction, allowing warmer air from northern Mohrland back into Midberm and Kahdram. This brings more steady and predictable rains to the eastern continent so that gathered snows melt and crops can be planted.
Summer
During the days of summer, the prevailing winds are picking up the warm, moist air around Mohrland and depositing it to the northeast, as far as the southern peninsula of Athsland. More storms appear in the sea between the two continents and continue through Midberm and northern Kahdram.
Autumn
As the prevailing winds settle into a similar pattern as seen during spring, Midberm and northern Kahdram begin to cool off again. This is a time for harvesting while weather patterns are calmer and for preparing for the chaos of the coming winter.
Winter
The days of winter carry the most tumultuous weather patterns of the entire year. The prevailing winds originate in the artic northwest, wrap around the Trakkaras bubble, then resonate south into northern Kahdram. Severe sleet storms and blizzards will seem to appear out of nowhere, and the high seas are almost impassable at times.
