Dorinian
Yes, they were all but wiped out centuries ago. So was everyone else in what used to be Aldoris. No one else is holding on to a dead country quite so hard.
What happened to Aldoris was a tragedy. This is widely acknowledged, and the survivors endured a great deal before finding their footing. It's been a millennium now, and what once was a coherent imperial identity has splintered into many diverse countries and cultures. The roots are clear, and there are many similar and beloved traditions across them all.
The Dorinians take it several steps further. They would be seen as foolish if not for declaring that the only arable land in Aldoris Desert belongs to them by birthright.
A birthright they can't prove, by the way. They insist that they are descended from the imperial family, and that the specific mansions and towns that they once owned and have been destroyed had to specifically have originally been in the prime land spots.
Most people ignore their claims, but they are quite loud and quite consistent in their claims. They don't usually resort to violence, but they are a notable nuisance to anyone who lives around those oases.
They are persistent, but everyone who is not them generally sees them as highly annoying and more than a little archaic. While most people in the area have variations on older traditions, the Dorinians have all of them, in a very specific prescribed fashion that they insist is the "true" way. Never mind that no one needs it to be the "true" way to enjoy a fun time at a festival, or to meaningfully bless a harvest, or any one of a number of things.
On the rare occasion that a case of historical precedent is needed, the Dorinians are considered experts. Some of the historical details they have would seem to be a bit fudged to make the imperial family they claim to be descended from a bit more benevolent, but their grasp and records of the old legal codes are broadly considered to be very accurate.
