F-27 Falcon II
The F-27 Falcon II is a fighter strike craft developed by the Terran Systems Confederation, following many of the design standards set forth by the fighter craft of old Earth, and capable of operating in both atmosphere and the vacuum of space. Though other fighter craft have been developed since, none of them have come close to the level of versatility and reliability of the Falcon II line, ensuring that it remains a mainstay of the TSC air force. Boasting a near unmatched balance of offence, defence, and manoeuvrability, as well as having proven itself plenty capable of taking on a variety of missions in a variety of environments, it's no wonder the Falcon II has effectively become the symbol of the TSC military.
Power Generation
The F-27 is powered by a small impulse drive, which provides energy for both the engines and many on-board systems.
Propulsion
Like the fighter craft of old Earth, the F-27 uses a twin engine design for propulsion.
Weapons & Armament
All F-27 craft are armed with forward-facing auto cannons, and medium-range air-to-air missiles, though they can also carry light air-to-surface weapons.
Armor and defense
All F-27 craft are built with Durasteel armour plating, and come equipped with flares for shaking off enemy missiles. Additionally, they are also equipped with a small shield generator.
Communication Tools & Systems
All F-27 craft are equipped with long-range, two-way voice communication systems for communicating with nearby strike craft and/or military installations within a 3,000 km range. They are also equipped with a Distress Signal Emitter (DSE) that will automatically activate and broadcast on all nearby friendly channels in the event of a crash, unless the system itself has been destroyed.
Sensors
All F-27 craft are equipped with a radar system with a range of 520 km.
Additional & auxiliary systems
The F-27 can be equipped with an external fuel source, for extended missions beyond its normal operational range.
