WorldEmber 2025
A root page containing everything for WorldEmber 2025 for Pearalos, which includes the November preparation document and a running word count (found to the right), the articles themselves found below, and weekly recaps of all my work, all are listed here.
The actual concepts of the system have already been changed to fit other ideas since the prep document, but I was quite expecting that. Oh! I also made some hefty revisions to my CSS, and I plan to do a more serious overhaul after WorldEmber concludes and the awards ceremony takes place in February!
It has proven quite easy to smash my goals for WorldEmber as it turns out, we'll see where we end up as things progress!
Weekly Recaps
Below you will find the weekly recaps for WorldEmber.Week 1
Not much progress this week, had a lot of IRL matters to attend to, as well as surprise work on a non-WA project. Still, I managed to crack out the first revision to my magic system for now. I expect it to change as we go through WA and head towards more magical content being implemented! The actual concepts of the system have already been changed to fit other ideas since the prep document, but I was quite expecting that. Oh! I also made some hefty revisions to my CSS, and I plan to do a more serious overhaul after WorldEmber concludes and the awards ceremony takes place in February!
Week 2
Bit of a delayed update on this one, but a LOT more progress was made this week! All of the core rules for the magic system are in place, and my focus has expanded to focus on other aspects now, namely the traditions, schools and disciplines of magic. It has proven quite easy to smash my goals for WorldEmber as it turns out, we'll see where we end up as things progress!

Week 3
A bit delayed on this one, owing to Christmas and all, but the actual traditions of magic are all in now. No further progress as of yet, though, and I'll probably be taking it easy for at least the rest of this week. I've smashed the word goals though, so I'm not worried about that.Week 4
As expected, no progress made. In addition, I've had some last minute thoughts on rewriting the magic system, so I'm going to be doing that to wrap up WorldEmber! I imagine that will lower my word count a bit, but we'll see. Either way, I beat the target and I'm happy with that.Final Week
Well, a lot of stuff got sorted on this final week of WorldEmber! The challenge is over now, and I finished with 25k words. It's well over the 10k I pledged to complete, so I'd call that a win!I also managed to completely redo my magic system in this final week, overhauling it with my final ideas and really laying down a foundation I'm happy with. WorldEmber may be over, but it has helped me lay out a really solid foundation for my magic, and I plan to spend the rest of January working on it, while also working on various WA events, such as the NY Resolutions.
