Hearthtender
Guardians of the Sacred Hearth
Career
Qualifications
It is expected that those who aim to serve the Goddess Caramip as one of her Hearthtenders have already spent time in her service. While anyone may be called by the Lady of the Hearth at any time to serve her; those who are appointed to the position by their fellow mortals toil no less than ten years in her service. Furthermore, they must demonstrate that they share qualities with the Feastmaker. They must be heroic, compassionate, caring, joyful, fierce, and righteous. These qualities are said to embody the spirit of the goddess and bring her followers closer to her.
Given the more adventurer-like traits associated with becoming a Hearthtender, it's not uncommon for hopefuls to spend time travelling as a cleric or paladin of Caramip. After getting some heroic deeds under their name they retire to the Hearthstone in the hopes it's enough to become one of her priesten.
Career Progression
Beginning as attendants who handle the daily cleaning of the temple, nearly everyone starts from the bottom and works their way up. To ensure that they won't die on their travels, those who wish to be Hearthtenders will spend time in the Hearthstone learning small magicks and training their bodies.
Payment & Reimbursement
For many, becoming a Hearthtender is reward enough. However, compensation includes a bed, three meals a day, private bathing, and access to many books thanks to agreements with Flamering and Strigitree. While they frequently have enough time to pursue other means of income, the majority have no interest and are content with what is provided
Perception
Purpose
It is said that the Eternal Fire that burns in the pith of the Hearthstone will never go out so long as Caramip exists. Tending to the Flame and watching over it is the greatest honor one can receive in Her name. While in practicality the role of Hearthtender has more ceremonial duties than anything, it's still an important role. Hearthtenders give blessings, watch over the Eternal Fire, train new attendants, interpret signs from the Homekeeper, and oversee religious events.
Social Status
Those lucky enough to achieve being a Hearthtender are regarded very warmly. It's not uncommon for them to receive little gifts particularly from children. Many Hearthtenders have families they are close to from blessing the mothers during childbirth and providing support during the early months of childhood. As such, children are often raised on stories of how wonderful Hearthtenders are and many long to be one when they grow up, wanting to offer the same love and affection.

A wonderful article my friend.
