Modron Brass
Modron brass is an extremely rare metal only found exclusively in the bodies and manifested weaponry of modrons. It is harder than any known metal and impervious to nicks and scratches. Though artificers and alchemists have attempted to replicate it for centuries, production of modron brass on the Material Plane is not yet technologically possible by any scientific or magical means.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Modron brass looks similar to ordinary brass, though any reflections on its surface are muted and smoothed. It seems to form exclusively in smooth planes and curves, with no variation or flaw. It cannot be further polished or dulled and does not patina over time.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Modron brass is neither warm nor cold to the touch, but always seems to be the exact temperature of one's fingertips. When licked, there is a slight tingling sensation on the tongue, but otherwise a distinct lack of flavor. It does not react with any other known substance, nor can it adhere to anything except via the use of Sovereign Glue.
Origin & Source
Modron brass is only found in two places: the bodies of modrons and the weapons. Modrons are grown in an orchard in Arcadia and already made of brass when formed. Each time a squadron of modrons crosses the boundaries of a plane, they are able to manifest a single weapon with which to defend themselves, if they are not already wielding one. These weapons range from crude dagger-like stakes wielded by monodrons to long, jointed flails that lock in perfectly with the five arms of a pentadron.
Since modrons' bodies are incorruptible and dissolve into water vapor upon the modron's death, modron brass weapons are the only consistent source of the metal that can be possessed and studied by mortals.
Life & Expiration
It is unknown if modron brass can decay. Modrons' metallic bodies dissolve into water vapor after their seventeen-year-long march. No weapon made of modron brass has been observed decaying in a similar manner or sustaining damage of any kind; however, these weapons never stay in mortal hands for very long. Pentadrons (and likely any theoretical higher-order modrons) are able to sense the presence of modron brass anywhere in the multiverse, and always seek it out when it makes its way into unsanctioned hands. They will fight to the death to repossess the weapon, and cannot be dissuaded from doing so by any means.

In my campaign, one particular Player raised an Ancient Red Dragon from the dead, using a scroll, while they were 4th level. Not the greatest plan. Then the dragon scoured the main city of the campaign, destroying a Modron temple among many others. Having READ this article, that player (a Chaotic Neutral follower of Loki and extremely on brand) has decided to steal, then sell, all the Modron Brass he can find. What could possibly go wrong. Wait. It's exactly spelled out what will go wrong in the article. Some Players just create their own content.
Oh, I LOVE that you're using this. Some players truly do create their own content... aaaaaand leave it for us to plan...
