Whispers Coin

The whispers in the room are more than I can bear. My eyes may be covered, but my ears are listening to ever moment. The secrets they were saying to each other, with casual distain. It horrified me. I tried to remove my blindfold, and that's when a dagger was pulled on my back. I cound't run anymore, not until nightfall.
— An account from a student of Blackstone Keep who escaped the Whisper Coin
Whispers Coin were an ancient organization that were said to have been the most devout followers of Secret Keeper. The first organization fell in the wake of The Parting after the death of their deity. Since 721 AR, a group of like-minded individuals has started up the group again with the hope of reviving the dead god to power.

Description

Much of the original Whispers Coin were devout Clerics and Warlocks bound by their own being to the knowledge of the Secret Keeper. Each member had their own personal relationship with the deity and as such had their own style and unique nature about them. It was written that each member carried a book at their side to obtain new information as it arose to their knowledge.
The modern equivalents all seem to possess similar robes and outfits to distinguish them from the normal people of the world. Many of them have scars over their lips, a symbol of their supposed silence and secrets kept. It is common for members to wear a blindfold during their rituals, this heightens their senses and allows them to focus on the words said than the visions before them. The three wardens and leader of the group have an eye carved in the middle of their forehead, this allows them to see in on the lives of others and learn their secrets.

History

The first group to call themselves Whispers Coin existed at some point before The Rift. Much of the information about them has been lost to time, alongside their deity Secret Keeper. However, it is clear that they were a roaming religion, nomadic people traversing the world learning the secrets and forbidden knowledge of various cultures.
Despite their nomadic lifestyle, it is believed that the ancient collective had a library where they stored all the knowledge they gathered. The location of this library and its contents are contested as being fictitious, or at least scattered into dust throughout history.
The only element of the Whispers Coin to last through The Shatter, was their name and ideals of keeping secrets and information. This knowledge alone inspired Athran Val-eer, a young Light Elf in 726 AR to gather like-minded individuals in Ankh'eal. This group set out to a set of ruins chosen by Val-eer to act as their new library, a place to gather the forbidden knowledge of the world.
By 755 AR, the group has grown to 13 core members and several allies who help ensure the safety of their members.

A Tale of Two Coins

While they possess the same name, the two factions known as the Whispers Coin are very different in their methodology and seemingly in their goals.
The ancient Whispers Coin were said to be peaceful holders of all knowledge, kindly unburdening people of their secrets and erasing the knowledge from someones mind, if they wished. This benevalnce and peaceful nature allowed a clear recognition of their abilities, and allowed them to walk in the daylight achieveing their goals.
The modern Whispers Coin are drastically different. Athran Val-eer gathered hoarders and those who wished to use the secrets and knowledge to their own means. Rather than a priestly order, the Whispers Coin are a cult, hiding in the shadows and gathering the knowledge to return to their Secret Keeper. They wipe people's memories of their presence to hide away from discovery.
The drastic difference between the two organizations has led those who are aware of their presence to refer to the modern group as the Whispers, linking them closer with the current deity holding the domains of Secrets and Forbidden Knowledge, The Whisper Wraith
