Infor
Infor is an example of a city that makes use of their resources to the fullest. We Keepers are glad to have good trade relations with such a valuable ally.
At the edge of the Cloud Lake lies Infor, the capital of Aelirium. Due to its location it is offers perhaps one of the most breathtaking views on Farlis.
Hugging the outer walls of the crater are several districts. The lower areas are home to Infor’s common folk, while the wealthy reside along the crater’s edge. Floating islands suspended near the edge also hold some of the city's most prestigious buildings.

Edge District
Although it is not the oldest area of the city, the Edge District is the wealthiest part of the city by far. Along the edge of the crater there is a promenade which offers a superb view of the whirling clouds below. Many of the wealthiest families in Aelerium have built their villas alongside this promenade. Some prestigious buildings such as the Floating Edge tavern or the Aelerium Arcana can be found here as well.
Old District
When Infor was founded the fist settlement was placed near the river close to the crater. Even in this time boats docked along the banks here to transport goods to the Visar Bay and beyond. Today smaller ships still dock here and to sell their goods in the nearby comercial district. However, quite a large portion of trade arrives from the south by land as the river is not large enough to accomodate large ships.
Kandor District
The Kandor Disctrict forms the commercial hub of the city. Due to its central location Falls related products come in from the districts to its north while the Old district to the west ensures easy export and import of various goods. Many of the wealthiest individuals conduct most of their bussiness here. At the end of the day the go back up the hill. A magical transport called the Windrider was constructed to make travel between the lower and upper part of the city easier.
Falls District
Part of the Falls District still falls within the walls of the city but the majority of it lies along the northern side of the crater. The supervisors of the Falls mining operation live within the city walls but most of the workers have their homes along the northern perimeter of the city or even further north. Several large mining operations have been built along the north western crater wall making the discrict a rather elongated one.
Artisan District
Infor is known as the place to be to buy magic items or order some custom made ones. The abundance of Falls in the area has made it easy for magical artisans to make the city their home. It has led not only to the creation of crystal casting armors but also to a wide variety of weapons, utilities and lesser magic items. The discrit itself is located close to the Falls and Kandor discrict and runs partially up the crater wall.
Wall District
A large part of the city is built alongside the crater wall. On some part the stairs connecting the various streets can be quite steep so many make use of the Windrider to go up or down. There are two Windrider tracks in the city, one in the north and one in the south. Each of these host several Windriders which stop at several locations in the Wall District. Most who live in this discrict are well off but not rich enough to live in the Edge Disctrict.
History
Founding
It is unclear when the current settlement was founded as the original settlement was founded by the Mofae Elves who did not keep an exact record. This puts the estimation of a founding date around 2400 BF but could also be much later. But before the Mofae settled the region, the Selefer held control over the Cloud Lake. Ruins of ancient settlements and mining operations from the Selefer time period can still be found, especially along the eastern side.
For several centuries the settlement remained in the hand of the Mofae Elves even though the Cloud Lake was coveted by the Draconid Endaka Empire and the Avaronians. Eventually, the strenght of the Avaronian Empire became too great and the Mofae elves were forced further south into the Baidan Jungle.
Avaronian Era
The settlement prospered under Avaronian rule as they heavily expanded the mining operations. Several forts were built along the western border to prevent the Mofae Elves from reclaiming the region. Soon Infor became the most important city in the western part of the Avaronian Empire. The resources and magic items coming from the region enabled the Avaronians to continue their colonisations eastward.
Near the end of the Avaronian Era a large part of the city was destroyed by feral dragons during the Dragon Scourge. The Mofae Elves saw this as their chance to reclaim the lost area and managed to hold on to it for a few decades before it was reconquered by the Avaronians once more.
Aelirium
In the year 404 AE the remnants of the Avaronian Empire finally split into Aelerium, Mervidel and Kavonia. Given its size and importance Infor was the logical choice to become the capital of the newly formed Aelerium. Originally all of the successor nations of the empire formed an alliance called the Magi Covenant. When artificers in Infor created the first Crystal Casting Armor the power balance quickly changed. Until then Mervidel had been the de facto leader of the alliance but due to the large influx of new wealth into Aelerium the tides had turned. Eventually this led to the Covenant War which was won by Aelerium, consolidating its position of power once and for all.
In the centuries that followed the city of Infor only grew . Many new prestigious buildings were constructed and magical wonders such as the Windriders were created to ease the everyday life of its citizens.
Landmarks
The Aelerium Arcana
The most gifted magical item creators in Farlis all have one thing in common, they have studied at the Aelerium Arcana. This arcane college covers a wide variety of studies on magic but it is especially know for enchantments and working Falls into magical items. Many of the newer types of magical items have all found their origin here. Although the majority of its students come from Aelerium there are many Humans, Draconids and even Dwarves who study here as well.
The college itself is sponsered by several of Infor's most prominent families such as the Averenim and the Kambor. Each of these families sees the college as a sort of recruitment ground. Anyone who shows great aptitude in magical item creation can get an invitation from one of the families to work in their business.
The buildings of the college themselves are constructed on one of the largest floating islands near the edge of the Cloud Lake and are connected to the Edge District through a bridge. This unique location makes the college also a perfect locations to see some amazing views.
Floating Edge
The Floating Edge is the most high end tavern of the city and owned by the Kambor family. It is mostly known for its performances that are done on small floating motes around the edge of the Cloud Lake. Given its location the tavern is frequented mostly by the wealthy of the city but others can see the performances as well as long as they don't order to much expensive food or drinks.
