Frontier Session 39
General Summary
The battle begins with strange, demonic creatures dressed in black with twisted, fox-like faces, and humanoids in similar outfits wielding wicked, hooked blades dripping with black liquid. Once grabbed by their strange claws, they are sucked into a book, which is chained to the creatures' belts. During the battle, Hiron is struck down and killed by one of the assassins. He then arrives at the golden gates of Mount Celestia, where he debates the nature of the soul with angelic creatures and the avatar of a God.
After one of the fox-like creatures is killed, they can see its body reverting to that of a regular human as a fox-like spirit leaves its body. Once all the creatures have been killed, Jock rushes out and finds some guards at a gate, watching the fight but not intervening. He slams one of the guards against the wall and yells at them until they go and get help. Meanwhile, Glee tries to put Hiron back together, but realises that he is a mixture of biological organs and intricate machinery.
Suicu sends out his raven to scout the area and spots more creatures running away from the castle, including a large fox-like creature with multiple tails. He decides to spy on the creature later and turns to investigating the corpses and collecting their weapons and items with Jock.
Jock identifies the book the creatures were using and finds out that a spirit from Gehenna can use it to imprison a creature in a maze. If they spent too long inside they can get lost forever.
After a few minutes some guards arrive with a cleric the Archvizier Inoune, High Priest of Palea, a strange humanoid with golden skin and glowing blue eyes. Glee convinces him to start a ritual to bring him back from the dead and Hiron. After a long ritual his body is restored enough for him to come back to life.
The Archvizier reveals a small cherubic creature sitting on Hirons shoulder and they introduce themselves as Sylphie or Syl. Jock interrogates it and is distrustful of this creature and it seems apologetic and makes concessions.
They go to speak with the Emperor but in the center of the room they see the Archmage Alexandr the Red himself with a pile of the dead assassins in a corner of the room. He explains he is not the original but a Simulacrum of the Archmage while Alexandr Prime is in the east in the Empire of the Moon.
He explains that Maximillian the Blue is trying to use rituals to kill the demi-gods trapped inside and consume their power. He gives Jock a list of rituals that can be done.
He warns them that killing the God can have a ripple effect through the region as their power bleeds into the area. For example, Zehir keeps the area hot and allows the jungle to survive. Without him the area will return to a frozen waste. He says that Zehir's temple is protected by powerful magics bound to a giant golden statue on top of the pyramid.
Glee asks for a list of the demi-gods trapped in the God Cages and he provides the names and locations.
