Frontier Session 38
General Summary
Session 38: 22-02-2026
The Sky Fortress flies into the southern continent avoiding the chaotic energies from the desert. They see a small town and using the telescopes of the zeppelin they see humanoids walking the streets as well as men in armour who are glowing slightly. Using the Ravager Ornithopter to fly down to meet the people and get some information on this land.
They meet with some soldiers armoured in bright yellow lamellar with strange looking helmets. Two of the soldiers have yellow glowing eyes. Meeting them in the middle of a field outside of town they explain that they're the Empire of the Sun soldiers [called Sun Blades] and they don't seem to be hostile. This small town only has a small garrison and resources and they recommend they move on to the Emperors palace. They request to a large flag so they can show they don't mean any harm. After spending an hour in town looking around they receive a long red banner with a golden dragon painted on it.
Flying on to the large city to the south they a blast of light erupts from the top of the castle and a gigantic dragon glowing with light flies to the zeppelin. It dances around the giant flying machine inspecting it and finally transforms to a small dragon that changes shape into a large golden skinned humanoid with softly glowing eyes dressed in brilliant golden armour.
He introduces himself as Amaterasu Ō, Sun Emperor of the Pangu ōkoku, the Twin Empires and ruler of the Empire of the Sun. He is an Ancient Solar Dragon and has a part of the divinity of Palea, God of Light.
He shows interest in the Sky Fortress and goes on a tour with Glee who shows him around. He explains that their people have not been able to leave the lands because they die outside of the influence of the Twin Empire. They ask him about the flying city and the desert filled with chaos magic and he tells them its whats left of Illium after the Gods managed to destroy the land turning it into a wild magic zone. Only the flying sky docks of Aeternum, the capital of Illium survived. Somewhere in the desert the black wizard, Numerius lives in his tower.
They fly to the castle and get welcomed with a lavish banquet and they go around speaking to the nobles. Finding out that the humanoids bond voluntarily with Celestial spirits and merge into a new entity until death. The celestial spirit will then roam the land trying to find a new host. Unbonded humanoids can leave its lands. They also find out that the spirits in the eastern empire can use force or trickery to bond with a humanoid.
Once they retire to their chambers, Suicu goes out into the town to explore and buy some supplies, Hiron goes to the gardens to learn about medicine, Jock goes off to learn the Sending spell and Glee discusses science and magic with the state Alchemist Ishida Yasu.
While in town Suicu notices a person in dark robes following him and he chases after the figure who dodges and teleports out of the way. Through a teleportation spell of his own he catches up to it and sees the figure as a monsterous fox like creature. It just runs away from him and moves over rooftops and through alleyways. Finally he follows it to a small tavern and he explores it through arcane means and sees three of these creatures inside.
Back in the castle they meet with the Emperor and explain that they saw these creatures. Startled he says these are Shadow Blades, daemonic servants of the Emperor of the Moon. His counterpart is an Ancient Lunar Dragon and together they have an uneasy pact to maintain the divine magic in the land. He cannot act against them but asks the party to act on his behalf and find out what these creatures are doing here.
Suicu casts a spell to spy on the creature he encountered in the tavern. He sees it walking through a crowd next to the castle and starts scaling the wall. The party rushes down to the terrace where they encounter the monstrous fox like creature. Suddenly three more appear and draw their black hooked blades.
