What brought us here
Most of these come from my WE sponsored category, no surprise there, as that is what is fresh to mind. But there's also the special mention of Alana, which always inspires me. Tillerz brings so much into those articles, offering all kinds of hooks both implicitly and explicitly.
So what do we learn from these? Any large vehicle, but also any group or area or place really, comes from its aspects, its history, but also its important members. Our history is formed by us, but it also forms us. Things aren't just about the current situation, but what brought us here and where we're going to. Any of those play a role in hooking the players / readers, making things come alive.
From all that reading, I felt the urge to write a vehicle, and I only really have one setting where that would fit. So even though the setting is inactive, I did write up a bit of history for it at least. Whether I'll actually write more for that setting, only time can tell.
Where are we going to
Gawd, I had so many plans last year... Held onto my list of objectives for a few months, then it collapsed and I never got back to it... No more. No endless options and guilt over falling behind. I'm going to introduce randomness here! The same way I get Summercamp done, I need to get my spare time choice paralysis under control through random chance.
So here's the easy solution: A table with options. If I'm about to go doomscroll, just roll the table and see what comes up. No more procrastinating, no fated encounters, fuck the stars.
And incidentally, I did one very important thing this year. I deleted my bookmarks of sites I mostly used to doomscroll, checking them daily and then whenever I was looking for something to waste time on, procrastinating on actually doing anything, really. Still gotta work on not getting caught in youtube shorts doomscrolling. I still catch myself relapsing occasionally, but I also catch myself catching myself and doing something new instead of old time-wasting. Now to see if I can convince myself to roll on the table and do something more useful for my worldbuilding.
