Sweet is the wine of the dark lords who weave Oblivion in our realm. Sweet was the rule of a Demon Queen who would invite Oblivion into the souls of her subjects. The Demon Queen is a series of articles published by the Alabaster Hand's high inquisitor, Suna Mondrane, initiating the fall of the monarchy at the organization's hand.
Damning Evidence
In the wake of the Arsaces family's bloody deposition, the people of the Kingdom of Arsavela, and the city-state of Aurel especially, had questions and concerns regarding the hostile takeover of the throne. The people believed themselves to be in good hands under the queen's rule, so the action blindsided everyone who caught wind of the brutal act.Suna's articles crawled through the royal family's history, painting a picture of corruption and malevolence as she wove conspiracy after conspiracy between every act and decree. No good deed came without cruel intent, and no great achievement came about without infernal dealings.
Carefully Plotted Propaganda
The people of Arsavela had no way of refuting what the articles outlined about their beloved queen. Most folks trusted the Alabaster Hand as a secondary ruling body long before they acted in swift defiance of their queen, so they were quickly swayed into justifying the act with the articles providing the only explanation they could accept.Historians were able to quickly counter the points made in the articles, but any who dared to do so in the Hand's earshot did not survive long to spread their knowledge any further. Suna Mondrane's first major act in rising to power was dismantling the kingdom's most prestigious academic institutions, stripping their curriculums, and denying historians their tenured roles at the universities unless they swore to share the Hand's version of Savelan history. It was well-known in educated circles that the Demon Queen articles were fiction, but opposition was silenced quickly, and educators quickly replaced with more agreeable folk, regardless of their qualifications.
The people would only know their beloved queen as one who would give them all to Oblivion.
