Ceazan
This article is a work-in-progress, just getting started! Lots of ideas have been haphazardly dumped here in the meantime! Enjoy!
The leyline fibers wove themselves into my skin, mending the frayed edges of my existence. This was what it meant to be one with the arcane. The Ceazan are leyborne humans sometimes referred to as the ley-bound. They are identified by transformations caused by Leyline emergences or arcane power which have left them dependent, in some way, on that magic source for quality of life or survival.
Gradual Shifts
Boharin of leyborne blood may find themselves undergoing the transition into Ceazan when exposed to traces of leyline energy that rapidly intensify, as it often occurs when a new leyline emergence is introduced to a region.Ceazan populations which continue to reside in these lands retain their arcane dependence generationally. Those who leave their arcane-infused homes grow weak with time, often succumbing to a withering effect before their bodies are capable of weaning from the magic that sustained their new forms.
Slow Burn
Ceazan do not undergo many immediate physical transformations when the shift from Boharin is triggered. Their transformations are internal in the beginning, primarily affecting their inner physiology and relationship to Malkora's arcane floes. However, with increased exposure to leyline energy over time, new physical mutations begin to develop, starting first in the eyes and skin before progressing to other features.
Enmeshed with the Weave
Natural affinity for connecting and interacting with the leylines often puts ceazan in contact with physical manifestations of the arcane, such as leyline fibers, essence pools, and more, which build up in the body through repeated exposure.Leyline fibers, when manipulated, can act as living threads; in this state, the threads may be drawn to living flesh, and the ceazan act as ready and willing hosts for these structures. Longer-lived ceazan may develop skin with thickly braided textures as interwoven arcane threads grow into their forms permanently.
