Overview

Nyxtharion is a mystical world bathed in perpetual twilight, its two moons—turquoise Vorell and obsidian Dremis—casting ethereal light across its diverse and otherworldly biomes. From the floating forests of the Aetherwood Expanse to the luminous tidal pools of Murkshade Coves, every corner of Nyxtharion teems with life and magic. Its inhabitants, like the prism-skinned Zytherans and the shadowy Umbraxis, embody the planet's dualities of light and dark. Home to glowing plants, spectral animals, and ancient myths tied to its celestial bodies, Nyxtharion is a realm of beauty and enigma, where the line between the physical and the ethereal is forever blurred.

Inhabitants

Zytheran

The Zytheran have translucent forms and their whole body shines like a prism when in sunlight. Able to control light sources and fire. They are often found in cities in the Artherwood Expanse, where scholars and their religion reign supreme in social standings. They believe the moons are some sort of portal to other dimensions.

Knowing whats out there, its not entirely impossible. They could also be eggs. ew.

Umbraxis

The Umbraxi are known for being nearly incorporeal at times. They are able to shift into smoke and shadow forms as well as a tangible one. They are able to control shadow and darkness as if it were second nature to them. Their faith to the God Dremis is known far and wide, and they often carve obsidian figurines in order to leave at temples of the Twins. Found in cave cities in the Obsidian Barrens, among other shadowy places.

Teralith

These stout, bark-skinned beings often have vines either actually growing over their skin or have some very odd scarrification/ tattoos. These nature loving humanoids are able to manipulate the forests to their wills. Can be found in secluded areas of the Verdant Spires area. They live in small communal villages or often on their own. They are very connected to the earth around them and are said to be able to speak to the earth itself.

Crynean

This species of humanoid has fiery blue eyes and are very pale, to the point that it seems as if theyre made of snow and ice. Despite their cold appearance, their souls and celebrations are vibrant and warm. Often thought to be a species of soothsayers, they study the stars and aurora where they live, in the Aurora Tundra. Many travel to the far reaches of the north to find their villages to get prophecies deciphered or have prophecies delivered. As one would guess, they are immune to the cold temperatures of the Tundra.

Myrric

They are crustaceous in appearance and live in small tribes. There seems to be a tribe for every crustacean group there is in this world, as far as I can tell. They are masters of sound funnily enough and are able to accurately mimic voices they have heard only once. They like to story tell and mill about or crafting fine jewlry for selling in markets.
Keep in mind that these crustaceous people are roughly the same size as their crustacean-y friends on other worlds. So, While I was at one of these markets I was able to purchase these lovely pearl earrings. However, the merchant was one of these Myrric. I was floored. I almost missed them, to be quite honest. Anyway, theyre the size of fairies, and they make fantastic earrings.

Celestial Bodies and Events

Twin Moons

Nyxtharion has two moons hanging in the sky. One is Vorell, a massive turquoise moon with swirling cloud patterns on its surface and is thought to be the controller of the tides. The second is Dremis, a black obsidian moon what is covered in red veins that make it look cracked.

The Veil of Moons

It is said in many legends around this world that when the twin moons align it causes a beautiful array of aurora to appear. The legends also say that this time is when the veil from this world and the next life thins and spirits are able to move freely between them.

Biomes

Aetherwood Expanse

Vast, twilight forests with trees that appear to float slightly above the ground. Home of the ethereal Zytheran and many fantastical glowing foliage and fauna.

Obsidian Barrens

A black desert of volcanic glass with fissures that emit a faint, eerie light. Home of the shadowy Umbraxis and is said to have a hidden pathway to a secret moon temple where knowledge is abundant.
This turned out to be entirely false. Well, the information bit. It was actually a hidden entrance to Lorecast.

Verdant Spires

Towering, jungle-like cliffs covered in vibrant, oversized flora. Home to the Trealith who thrive alongside the megafauna that inhabits the area.

Auroral Tundra

A cold, shimmering plain where the sky constantly glows with shifting auroras. Home to the Crynean species, as they seem to be one of the few who are able to survive in this environment.

Murkshade Coves

Coastal caves and tidal pools teeming with bioluminescent marine life. Coasts and coastal cities are the main habitat of the Myrric. But the Murkshade Coves are where they originate from.

Fauna

Starbound Kites

Massive, glowing jellyfish-like creatures that drift through the skies, feeding on airborne spores.

Glimmerhounds

Sleek, canine predators with fur that shimmers, making them nearly invisible in moonlight.

Shardbacks

Armored reptiles with obsidian scales that reflect light; their tails are tipped with sharp, blade-like protrusions.

Aurorabeasts

Elk-like creatures with antlers that glow softly, often seen wandering the Auroral Tundra in herds.

Glowclaws

Small, crab-like creatures in Murkshade Coves with glowing pincers used to attract prey.

Flora

Etherbloom Trees

Towering trees with glowing, floating leaves that shift colors based on moon phases.

Luminroots

Underground plants in the Obsidian Barrens, their glowing roots create networks of light beneath the surface.

Spirefang Vines

Thorny vines in the Verdant Spires that secrete a healing sap.

Frostpetals

Delicate flowers in the Auroral Tundra that remain frozen year-round, used for medicinal purposes.

Tidefronds

Bioluminescent seaweed in the Murkshade Coves that releases soothing light waves when disturbed.
