Whitewing

Whitewing is a small settlement up in the hills north of Lake Pegasus. It primarily serves as a refueling stop when traveling between Gravefellow and the citadels farther north. Whitewing is an old settlement with centuries of quiet history, but has been kept alive throughout the World Death with assistance from Conductors who see Whitewing as a critical stop on the way.

Whitewing is not a true Citadel with solid radiant steel walls and hundreds of thousands of citizens. Instead, the small town only has around 2,200 citizens, and the walls are made of spikes of radiant steel connected with solid steel walls. Thanks to the plentiful coal, much of Whitewing's wall guard is made up of light warjacks. Thanks to its location up in the hills, roving hordes come across the town in smaller numbers and in less intensity than larger Citadels periodically encounter. However, shadowclouds are still a major concern for Whitewing, as with any settlement.

Industries

Whitewing's primary industry is the nationalized Whitewing Coal Mine, which harvests from a deep vein of coal. Thanks to the hills, the mine can dig deeper into the ground than normal without encountering trouble. Even after centuries of mining, the coal mines do not show any signs of being exhausted soon.

Beyond that, Whitewing has a small subsidiary of Jack and Barrel Interest from Acarletto, named JB Wings. This organization services the wall's many warjacks and manufactures a variety of ammo.

Whitewing has a unique industry of falconers that have trained white falcons to scout the hills and scavenge for animals to help witth whitewing's food supply. They even come back with fish from Lake Pegasus often. The hills beyond the walls are populated with natural orchards and native crops that don't need a lot of attention outside of the harvest season. There is not much room to grow crops in Whitewing, and the town doesn't have the radiant steel to grow larger. About half of Whitewing's food supply gets imported from Gravefellow.

Pegasus Repair Co moved their headquarters to Whitewing after the World Death, and now works the dangerous job of maintaining rails far from the Citadels.
