For Safe Return Beyond Settled Ground

Purpose

A traveling guide for anyone exploring the land. The people got lost in the jungles on the paths. The organizations are trying to make sure any travelers makes back to the towns and castles.

Clauses

The guide is catagorised by outer routes, central divide, jungle, regions, river guidance, safe places, ruins, Nimari Presence, loss rules, and traveler slipups.

Caveats

Paths beyond settlements are not fixed. Markers may be altered, removed, or imitated. Travel times are estimates and may change. Not all routes remain consistent between journeys. The wilds may mislead those who move without awareness. Failure to follow guidance may result in disorientation, injury, or disappearance.

 Recovered field journals from lost expeditions. Trade route records maintained by Vendal. Path-mapping archives held by the Conclave. Oral accounts from returning travelers.

Publication Status

 The guides are openly reachable for everyone to use. Scattered through trade posts, towns, catles, and guides. Some are supplied freely to first-time travelers.

Legal status

Recognized and endorsed by Conclave, Vendal, and Silver Truths. Not enforced under a unified law. Use of the guide is voluntary. Responsibility remains with the traveler.

Historical Details

Background

 As travel across Linaeha increased there eports of disappearing paths and lost travelers. Jungle regions proved especially unstable, and central crossings became unreliable.

 Trade weakened, communication broke down, and isolated settlements began to fail. This guide was created as a shared effort to stabilize travel without attempting to control the wilds themselves.

History

Early records were fragmented individual maps, warnings, and personal notes. After repeated expedition failures the three organizations decide to unified. They blend their knowledge into a single document. The guide has been changed to match the land. Routes shift silently over time cause misfit and new observations are recorded.

Public Reaction

New travelers rely heavily on the guide. Experienced travelers treat the guide as support. Some believe the guide gives false confidence in unstable regions. No one will truly believe for has blended information over the years.

Legacy

 The guide became the normal source for travel across Linaeha. Wilds Guide did not eliminate people disappearances. The guide reduced them and restored limited movement between settlements.

Term

The effects are ongoing for the Widls Guide. Maintained and revised as long as the land continues to shift.

 This guide offers known ways forward and ways back.

 

Southern Route

 Eastern path: Ofnstow to the Castle of Shattered Souls

 Travel Time: 3 days

 What you’ll see:

 Worn stone markers and dense jungle along the way.

 Who you may meet:

 Travelers, Nimari, and patrols.

 Rest Stops:

 Marked stone circles and hills nestle in the Pomonga Jungle.

 Notes: 

Remain on the dirt road until the jungle’s edge. When entering the jungle delay the journey will lead to losses.

  

Barrier Peaks

 What you’ll see:

 Rising stone, broken terrain, and unstable rocky paths.

 What you won’t see:

 Steadfast crossings with water sources that is safe.

 Notes:

 Do not attempt unmarked passage. You are no longer on a true route if the landmarks repeat.

 

  

Jungle Regions

 Pomonga Jungle

 Travel Time: Unknown

 What you’ll see:

 Dense canopy, fading light, vanishing paths.

 What you won’t see:

 Clear sky or distant direction.

 Notes:

 If the forest grows silent, leave immediately.

 

 Pari Jungle

 Travel Time: 2–5 days

 What you’ll see:

 Dense growth broken by rivers and clearings.

  Notes:

 Stay near water. Paths are more stable along riverbanks.

 

 Rivers Guidance

 Orefen River

 Leads toward northern corner settlements. Most reliable for navigation.

 

Snakelen River

 Less stable for its difficult to follow at night. Crossing

 Support:

 When lost do follow the water rather than paths.

 

 Safe Towns and Castles

 Fadun Keep – open to travelers, offers rest and direction

 Mutswe Town– provides shelter, not always stable

 Bastion of Sigasto – good resting for anyone traveling the mountain range.

 

  Ruins

 Marked for avoidance:

 Tomb of Horrors

 Keep of the Fallen

 These are not safe locations. Do not treat them as shelter or safe to explore.

 

 

Nimari Presence

 What you’ll notice:

 Quiet movement, natural materials, moments of stillness or soft sound.

 What you won’t notice:

 Tracks, camps, or clear intent.

 Behavior:

 They may observe without interacting. Some may guide, though not directly.

 Guidance:

 Do not follow. Do not interrupt. Do not assume their purpose.

 

 Traveler Mistakes (Nimari)

 Following without invitation

 Speaking too quickly

 Low guidance will be given

 Marking paths after being seen

 Mistaking absence for safety

 

Forcing interaction

 If a Nimari reveals themselves, the encounter is already decided.

 Your role is to leave it with open mind.

 

 Wise sayings

  If you become lost:

  Stop moving

 Observe surroundings

 Seek water or stable ground

 Retrace only when certain

  Movement without awareness leads deeper into the wilds.

 

 Road Marks and Signs

 Not all guidance in Linaeha is written in this guide. Much of it is left along the road itself.

 Travelers, guides, and path-watchers mark stone, bark, and ground to warn those who follow.

 These signs are not always consistent, but some meanings are widely understood.

 

 Marks of Direction

 A single cut line in bark or stone usually marks a continuing path.

 If the line is clean and recent, the path has been used.

 A split mark—two lines branching apart—means the path divides.

 No mark will tell you which way is safer.

 Broken or shallow cuts often mean the path is no longer reliable.

  

Marks of Rest

 Small circles of placed stone are often used to show a place where others have camped without incident.

 If the circle is intact, the place has been used recently.

 If it is disturbed or incomplete, do not trust it.

 Dash without structure means someone passed through, not that they stayed safely.

 

 Marks of Warning

 A deep cross cut into wood or stone is a clear warning.

 Travelers use it to mark danger that should not be tested.

 Multiple cuts layered over each other often mean repeated loss.

 Spiraled or looping carvings are sometimes left to warn of paths that turn back on themselves.

  

Marks of Ruin

 Broken shapes, scattered carvings, or partially erased marks often appear near ruins.

 These are no guides. They are remnants of those who tried to mark what could not be mapped.

 Do not rely on markings near ruins.

 

 Nimari Signs

 Nimari do not mark paths as others do.

Travlers at times spoke about:

 Branches bent without breaking.

 Stones placed where they could not have fallen.

 Faint patterns that resemble intention but do not repeat.

 These are not confirmed signs. They do not remain.

 If you believe you have seen one, do not attempt to follow it.

 

 Traveler Additions

 Not all marks are trustworthy.

 Names carved into bark, stacked stones, or hurried scratches often belong to people.

 These marks may lead nowhere or into unstable ground.

 

 Guidance

 No single mark should be trusted alone.

 A true path shows repetition and agreement—between terrain, marks, and movement.

 If the land and the markings do not agree, trust the land.

 A path is known not by one sign, but by many that do not contradict.
