There are many different ways that the different segments of Infernus have developed different writing styles over time. The one for discussion with the reader is the art of staining stone or glass with Bismuth. While the products made with the style of inscription tend to be large and bulky, they are also hardy and tend to produce methods of communication that can last the test of time.

Manufacturing

A bismuthograph, or graphage is a large machine that combines stone machined rune-negatives, arranged on a plate, heat, and an ore seam of bismuth within Infernus Erudilite. The Erudilite lays on a funnel like tray, as heat is applied to sheer the crystals that have grown naturally. A flow of liquid magma is passed over the exposed bismuth, carrying the sheered crystals to the stone runed edges, where careful application of magic and cooling solidified the bismuth back into the gaps of the rune-negatives to produce solid, raised, bismuth crystal runes.

While the process can theoretically be replicated through care with images, the sheer complexity of the process has made it easier to be just geo-crafted into the image directly with much more sturdier and easier to work with minerals. As time has progressed, several working prototypes of key press activated graphages have been attempted, but the precision of working both the timing of the magic and the flow rate of the magma have made execution of these prototypes a temporary endeavour.

Social Impact

Since the introduction of the graphage, and the mass production of the stone negatives, great works and recordings of demonic laws and bylaws that the various factions of groups within Infernus hold to. This is best achieved with the use of rune negatives that hold both the rune referring to the word above the rune that holds the rune of context. With the advent of this style, the varying ways that demons wrote the word-context pairing in the past has been standardised into a top-bottom combo.

Later graphages even began to work little rails into how they set the runes, so that rune and context can be arranged before the sentences and paragraphs were worked into stone.
