Luceas Mearis
Born in Mearia in autumn of the year 1199 CE as the first son of Arian Mearis, Lord of the Evening Isles, Luceas was raised as heir to the Evening Isles. From a young age, he received an education focusing on politics and diplomacy, as per the historically more diplomatic nature of the Evening Isles' Lords.
His father, wanting his son to be just like him, did not appreciate that he was more of afighter than a talker. This soon led to conflict between father and son, and the differences only grew from there. For Luceas, things really changed when he began to develop and, at first, deny feelings for a stable boy in his father's employ.
In the summer of 1213 CE, King Eleothar Angeleos was killed, and Luceas accompanied his father as he travelled to Angeleor in order to swear his loyalty to the new King. Luceas could not help being impressed with young King Ionathar Angeleos and kept thinking about him long after that visit.
The feelings he had previously dismissed now became undeniable, and Luceas had to admit to himself that he did like boys. Even though laws had been passed, decriminalizing same-sex relationships, Arian Mearis was strongly opposed to the idea, so Luceas had to be careful.
Unfortunately, he was eventually caught kissing a boy. His father then disowned him and kicked him to the streets without support. Luceas did his best to survive on the streets of Mearia, even unsuccessfully tried to find work at the harbour and on a ship.
As he was almost fiteen at that point, he decided to travel to Angeleor and join the army for training. There, he often trained with Ionathar Angeleos. They eventually became friends and caught feelings for each other, though it would take a while for them to admit this to each other.
They had already been sleepig together, but only when Ionathar returned after being away for two months, trying to stop a political crisis from turning into a war, did they actually admit their love for each other.
However, when Luceas heard that Ionathar had alledgedly kissed someone else, a certain Mireanda Aorelis (Which he had not), he was heartbroken and broke things off. He only changed his mind after Ionathar saved his life on the battlefield of the First Battle of Angeleor.
He was then given a temporary position on the Royal Guard of Eleonis due to an acute shortage of Guards due to death and injury and accompanied Ionathar to Lupear and Aguilear in order to negotiate alliances. On this journey, several unforeseen things happened, and Luceas returned a Knight and full member of the Royal Guard, while Ionathar returned secretly married to Mireanda Aorelis.
In the second battle of Angeleor, Luceas fought by Ionathar's side as a Knight of the Royal Guard of Eleonis, but when Ionathar challenged his uncle to single combat in order to win the war or die trying, there was nothing anyone could do but watch and hope for the best.
Ionathar shocked everyone by winning the duel and the war, and once again when he promptly passed out from exhaustion and bloodloss. Everyone was relieved to see him wake up again the next day, none more than Luceas and Mireanda
With features like a tall frame, black curls and piercing blue eyes, Luceas bears a notable physical resemblance to his father, but that is where the similarities end. The two could not be more different in character.
While Ionathar is obviously not happy that Luceas was kicked out of his family, he is certainly glad to have met him. Had Luceas not come to Angeleor, the two would likely never have fallen in love.
When Ionathar got married to Mireanda, Luceas was unsure how it would influence his relationship with Ionathar. At present, the three are in a kind of three-way relationship.
All three of them thought it through and agreed to it. Whether or not this relationship holds long-term remains to be seen, but for now it works for them.
While Mireanda is recognized as Ionathar's wife and the Queen of Eleonis, they are forced to keep Luceas' involvement in their relationship a secret due.
To most, Luceas is simply known as the youngest of the current six Knights of the Royal Guard and the King and Queen's close friend.
At only eighteen years old, some question whether Luceas deserves a spot on the Guard. It is after all the most prestigious job and eleonian knight could hope for.
However, Luceas' skill as a swordsman can not be denied and is only made more dangerous by his left-handedness. Not only that, he also does an excellent job as a guard.
