The Greater Compendium

The Book of Monsters or The Greater Compendium is a lore book in K-pop Demon Hunters: Gambit.
In game, Players use it to unlock lore entries; a set of detailed information segments regarding the various animals, persons, and objects that the player can interact and encounter while free-roaming. For many segments of the book, often those regarding Demons, these parts can also be filled by reaching tiers of kill thresholds for each enemy/creature type that prowls the world.
100% the Compendium allows for the player to unlock an achievement. In addition, players also gain vanity items (like trophies/plushies) that showcase dedication. These rewards serve more as vanity bragging rights rather than providing functional, game-breaking power, acknowledging the player's thorough experience of the game.

Lore

The Greater Compendium, is an updated variation of the original resource guide book in which the first hunters placed all of their most important information that they learned during their careers as hunters. Over the years the book had grown intensive and as a result was the go-to for any would be hunters chosen to be the next generation. From then on their mentors would pass down the information.
Bobby, Huntrix's manager, shortly after convincing the girls to allow him to basically be their doctor, went over as many mythology/demonology books as he possibly could find. He did it in the hope to learn as much about demons as possible; not to hunt them, but to better understand the non-human side of Rumi’s physiology, fearful that his attempts to heal her as a complete human might harm her more than aid her.
One of the books Bobby read up on came directly from Celine herself after a long torturous conversation he had with her. But because the book was directly written by Hunters themselves throughout the long years and was thus passed down between the generations, it contained passages in it that generally left Bobby with a sour taste in his mouth.
While he completely understands much of the sentiment around the anti-demon rhetoric written down and used throughout the book and thus tried to keep an open mine about it, knowing what he now knew about her, the idea that someone would potentially use such terminology to describe Rumi makes him angry, and as a result its one of the books he had tried to keep at a distance, though he knows how important it is and thus takes passages from and copies down what he needs or has Zoey help him.
The result is a Compendium with a fresh coat of paint looking for daring adventurers to fill her pages!
