Wisteria Tea
Tea or Poison?
A teacup waits on a table, its contents cooling slowly as time passes, waiting for someone to come and partake in the lavender liquid inside. Small curls of steam rise from the cup, disappearing as minutes turn to an hour, and yet no one has come. Eventually, the contents will be poured out, the lavender liquid soaking into the ground as it is poured outside, no one the wiser to the cup's true contents.
Later, a porcelain teapot will be placed over a flame, warming the water as scoops of dried herbs and flowers are ladled into it. The woman hums to herself as she does this, knowing that what she makes is not as it seems, but no one will notice, mistaking it for a different type of tea, one an exotic export from the Fire Islands. It is a rare delicacy, something that people will pay handsomely for, especially those who have made unsavory deals.
Only those with a trained eye will understand that the lavender tea is not safe to consume, made from flowers that injure and kill nearly instantly. A specialty of the Fire Islands, this tea is shrouded in the mystery of those who make it, the court that uses soft hues of purple to carry out their acts. Known as Wisteria Tea, a cup of warm lavender liquid is a death sentence, one enticing even as it is damning.
Purple Tea
Most floral teas from the Fire Islands are known for a soft pink or purplish hue. It is believed this comes from the fog that blankets the islands.
Significance
Wisteria Tea is a tea made from wisteria blossoms grown in the Fire Islands, then properly distilled to harness the poison. Easily mistaken for other flower teas from the Fire Islands, this drink is one part of the arsenal used by the Court of Wisteria in their search to end those who wish to work with Devils, Demons, and others who wish harm upon the world. Because of its ability to be mistaken for other exotic teas, Wisteria Tea is ideal to use as a secretive poison that cannot be tracked. Unlike the sweet-smelling gases and other forms of the wisteria poison, the tea requires a great deal of planning and tends to work best for targets of a richer persuasion.History
Little is known about Wisteria Tea outside of the Fire Islands, but its usage became more common in the years after the Eldritch War as the mysteries of the Court of Wisteria gained traction. Even so, its usage has only been seen in affluent areas against those who have a great deal of political power. It is never seen in tea houses that have ties to the Nephilim, although many have tried to shut down businesses run by these people in fear of the Court of Wisteria, but rarely does this work.Wisteria Blossoms
Wisteria is poisonous in its base form to a majority of creatures, but with the correct refinement, this beautiful blossom and any other part of the tree can become deadly to even the largest of creatures.
