Mithril Dragonkin

Descendants of Mithril Dragons

Hallowed halls shimmer with bright scales as Scholars move past paned windows, moving from classroom to library to a quiet corner of study. While shades of scales are common here, the brilliant white fills more of the rooms, each Dragonkin searching for specific knowledge in the academy. Those of specific colors are more attuned to the life of enlightenment, but that does not stop all manner of people from coming here. The academy is open to all of their kind, but those of Mithril descent will spend far more of their time here than most.
Mithril Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and a Mithril Dragon. They have mythical traits that lend themselves to the pursuit of enlightenment, and, like Mithril Dragons, they can recover their strength and stamina quickly. It is not uncommon to find them tucked away in some corner of an academy or library, searching for whatever knowledge fits their fancy. Sometimes, one may even find a Mithril Dragonkin out in the world, testing some theory they have stumbled upon in their research.
Above all, these people believe in service. The Council of Metallic Dragons has proven that they can make a difference, no matter how small, no matter where. Metallic Dragonkin follow in the footsteps of their ancestors, each in a different way. Mithril Dragonkin pursue knowledge, dedicating their time to becoming experts in specific fields so that they can pass on this knowledge to others. Becoming Scholars, Mages, teachers, and Librarians is often the dream of these people, as that is the best way to pass on all that they have learned.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mithril Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Mithril Dragon. Their facial features are sharper than some of the Dragonkin, defined by a crest on the head and a pointed chin, as well as two shorter pairs of horns. A large nose and a larger tail, as well as smaller muscular bodies, are also common in Mithril Dragonkin.
All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin, as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Mithril Dragonkin often have extremely heightened senses, to the point where they may be accused of having foresight like their Draconic ancestors.
  Common Colorations

Common Colorations

While their coloration is in their name, Mithril Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades, matching the shades found in the scales of Mithril Dragons. Their scales come in many shades of Mithril, from the raw ore that can often be silver, to the more purified state of stark white, but their range of color is not as large as the Chromatic Dragonkin. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Metallic Dragonkin are considered the more social of the two groups of Dragonkin, although this is greatly influenced by the stigmas that surround certain colors of scales. Mithril Dragonkin are often the exception to this, often choosing to find solitude in order to study, experiment, or otherwise expand their knowledge. This is not to say that Mithril Dragonkin are not social, but their gatherings are often less rambunctious and enthusiastic than some of the other colors of Metallic Dragonkin. Within every major city where there is a large library or academy, at least one, if not more, Mithril Dragonkin can be found in residence.
Their area of the Fearsome Maw is considered the quietest and most structured, as there are often dedicated times where silent hours are observed in order to help with the pursuit of knowledge. Those who do not wish to partake often wander to other districts, joining in the festivities of other Dragonkin. Because of their knowledge, these people often will serve as Scholars, Mages, teachers, Librarians, and in many other academic professions that allow them to share what they have learned. While gaining knowledge is often the main goal, sharing it with others is seen as a noble pursuit. In that pursuit, these people rarely ever live in complete solitude.

I think I could live quite happily as a mythril dragonkin, tucking myself in an archive somewhere. :)
