Origins

The city had existed in some shape or form long before the other surface races took interest. Home to hordes of goblins that took to ransacking and ravaging the region. Animals were relentlessly hunted, trees were continually cut down to fuel fires and fertile farmland was churned up and made unusable. The settlement would constantly reach its capacity and absorb all possible nourishment from the surrounding areas before becoming barren. The goblin population would then turn to cannibalism and infighting, reducing their numbers to potential extinction levels which in turn allowed the forest to heal, replenishing the goblin populace and starting the cycle anew.
Outcomes

Placeholder Giblin by Katy Smith
A brutal elven war campaign began with the goal of restoring the forest back to its natural splendor. A natural splendor without the taint of goblinkind. It is recorded that the campaign lasted for a dozen years in order to purge every shack, shed and hovel. As a result of the goblin’s extremely short lifespan, from their perspective it was a multi-generational war.
The campaign was wildly successful and purged the goblins from the forests and into the mountains where they could do no more harm to the natural beauty of the area. In their hubris, a second thought was not spared for the repercussions of this monumental shift of populace from one area to another.
In recent times, the old goblin city has fallen into ruin and decay. Goblin corpses were gradually consumed by the dirt and turned it into fertile soil once more. The forest is healing and the elves finally have a view not disrupted by smoke and scorched earth.
This is a submission for my second Summer Camp - I hope you enjoy the world I am building!

Stupid elves and their stupid views. I almost feel sorry for the goblins here.
