Hatunyay

Causes

Hatunyay is almost always caused by a noncancerous tumour in the brain.   Though there are rare inherited disorders in some communities that infrequently manifest similar symptoms.

Physical

  • Extreme height and rapid growth spurts
  • Unusually large hands and feet with thick fingers and toes
  • Prominent jaw and forehead
  • Coarse facial features like a broad nose, thick lips and large tongue
  • Gaps or spaces between the teeth

  • Severe or recurring headaches from tumour pressure
  • Vision changes or loss of side vision if the tumour presses on nerves
  • Weakness or fatigue in muscles
  • Other

  • Excessive sweating and oily skin
  • Joint pain and body aches
  • Delayed puberty or irregular menstrual cycles
  • Sleep problems like sleep apnea
  • Affected Groups

    Hatunyay is a rare condition in children who grow rapidly in height and size compared to their peers.   It is mostly observed in people from oasis valley but it can emerge in other place from time to time.

    Cultural Reception

    Once in a generation, there would be a set of people who grow unusually large. They hold significant religious power in the collective coastal cultures. Their presence regularly raise morale during major gatherings and hard times and are practically worshipped as representatives of their gods.
