The Interface
The Interface is Extraction's way of traveling through dimensions. It has been developed and improved over the years to make it as safe and efficient as possible. It is housed in the Interface Bay a specially built building in Head Quarters. It is connected directly to the Medical Center. A large raised platform sits in the denter of the room. The platform has lots of differant electrical boxes conected to it. Magnetic conducters raise up arching over the platform. Off to the side sits the control board, a set of raised consoles that control the whole thing.
Early Testing
The first step in creating the Interface was devloping a consistent way of opening paths to other dimensions. Research was done into other known forms of Interdimensional travel, and how they work. Along with studys on how they effect the traveler. Tests on power sources were also needed to find one capable of fully powering the Interface, while remaining stable. A way of targeting a specific location was also necessery. Tests on all systems were first proformed separately before slowly testing them together.
The original prototype built back then has continued to be in proved as more discoveries are made.
Completed Concept
The completed Interface used technology from several different worlds. This gave it a odd apperace, a bit cobbled together. Dispite its appearance it functioned smoothly, trancporting people and objects to specific places throughout the dimensions. It used a combination of ion power and magnetic fields to manipulate the fabric of time and space. Pulling hyperstrings to allow almost instantaneous travel from one dimension to the next. Special beacons were developed to allow the Interface to recall someone from another dimention.
Parts and their functions
The main part of the Interface is comprised of the magnetic field generators. This use electromagnets, to create massive magnetic forces.
Magnetic field generators in the main platform and arching above it, warp the fabric of space and time creating the Interface effect that allows Interdimensional travel.
The control board is located just to the right of the Interface gate. It is used to control the power levels and magnetic fields. Directing the Interface to send a person to their destination.
The ion generators sit behind the Interface. Heavy power cables are set into the floor, conecting them to the main Interface.
Power relayes and surge protectors, built into the base of the Interface gate. These are what ajust the power levels and keep the circuits from overloading.
Magnetic sheilded walls to keep the magnetic fields from effecting anthing outside of the Interface Bay. The shielding needs regular up keep to function fully.
The beacon sensor unit, keeps the Interface in contact with the portable beacons. So that an agent can be recalled.
The Beacon System
The Interface is in a constant state of improvement, the beacon system especially had had many iterations. As the original beacons were much larger, in order to contain enough power to send a continuos signal back.
These early beacons needed to be set up and left at a specific point, so that contact would not be broken. Plus they were to heavy to carry for long periods.
Slowly they became smaller and smaller, but this presented another problem. While a beacon could be carried with a Agent the signal could be blocked by layers of rock or local magnetic fields.
Both beacons are still used in different situations, though the engineering and Interface teams have been working on ways to solve both problems.
It takes special training to operate or work on the Interface, especially because it combines so many different types of technology. Only authorized personel are allowed in the Interface Bay, unless they are currently being extracted.
