Lycanthropi

Lycanthropi is a disease commonly transmitted by bite, and in rare cases kissing, as the bacteria that causes the virus is contained in the saliva of an infection individual.

This virus is common in some of the worlds that Extraction Agents have traveled to so there has been a lot of research done on it. A lot of worlds where it is common have safe gaurds against the disease. Along with ways to fight or prevent it. In meny cases the disease lies dormant untill the full moon. This can make it especially Dangerous because it can be transmitted while dormant and an infected individual can appear completely normal when the disease is dormant.

Symptoms

1. Strong nocturnal tendencies especially on moon lit nights.
2. Irritable and increased aggression
3. Increase of hair/ thicker body hair
4. Craving meat
5. Tranceformations into a wolf or wolf like form under the full moon
6. Hightened sense of smell/ aversion to strong sents
7. Increase in hearing range/ strong reactions to loud/ high pitched sounds
8. Decreased pain sensations
9. Some strains may cause allergic reactions to silver.

Anyone Experiencing these symptoms should seek medical attention. Unfortunately meny don't, and because of the increased aggression the disease can quickly spread. Decreased pain sensation can apper to be a benifit alowing an infected individual to shake of injuries, but can cause long term damage when injuries are ingnored.

Cures and Treatments

While the disease can be cured in the early stages there are meny cases where the disease progresses beyond cure. There have been several experimental treatments that have helped supress symptoms, in particular Tranceformations and aggression.

Wolfsbane and silver have both been effective against the disease. Though this can very depending on the strain of the virus. Magical treatments seem to be the most effective but are hardest to come by.

Extraction Medical has come up with an effective cure for early stages, that also helps supress the later stages. It contains both wolfsbane and silver, though silver can cause an allergic reaction in people with some strains.

Extracted who are suspected of having lycanthropi are quarantined and carfully monitored every full moon when the disease is strongest.

There have been out breaks, the most well known insident was the Moon Wolf Hunt. Where a individual who was a latent carrier had his symptoms trigger on a hike in the northern foot hills. The entire six person hiking group became infected. Because they were out hiking no one knew what happened. Search teams also became infected and it lead to an full out break that needed security teams to intervene.

Fortunately tests for the virus have been inproved and the Moon Wolf Hunt was the last out break in the Pocket Void.
