Tyche - Lady Luck

Tyche (Tykhe) is the Goddess of Fortune, Trickery, and the patron of Gamblers. She is a Minor Deity and a member of the Pantheon.

Tyche was once the Mortal Demigod child of Hermes, born during the Bronze Age. In life she was a extremely fortunate person, with everything in her life turning out in her favour. Early on in her life Tyche became a renowned and famed criminal and thief who avoided the law for her entire life, despite her notoriety. She was said to steal from the rich and hide her spoils in places so that only the lucky would find them. There are claims that some of her treasure has still yet to be uncovered.

Tyche was adored by her parent Hermes, and was well known for making lavish offerings to the Gods with her ill gotten spoils. When she died, at the ripe old age of 151, Hermes was said to have successfully convinced the Pantheon to ascend Tyche to Godhood, where she was given domain over both luck and trickery.

Soon after her ascension, Tyche proclaimed herself the Divine Patron of Hobbit, bestowing the species with a Divine gift of luck. An uncanny good fortune that all Hobbits still posses.

Tyche is commonly associated with the Goddess Nemesis, who is Tyche's polar opposite. Being the Goddess of balance, Nemesis is often opposition in to Tyche, bringing misfortune to the lucky and taking care that happiness was not too frequent or too excessive.

Worship

Tyche is sometimes considered a controversial Deity, mostly due to her followers, who are a small but dedicated following, comprised mostly of criminals, charlatans and gamblers. They often worship Tyche for luck and good fortune in their criminal or gambling endeavours, though it is unknown if Tyche grants them any benefit from their worship.

Tyche is also sometimes worshipped among Hobbit settlements, like Rootmund, as the species' Divine Patron, in gratitude for the good fortune Tyche continues to grant their people.

Appearance

Tyche is usually depicted as she was in life, a young and lithe Hobbit woman with light skin, mousey features and short brown hair. She is often depicted with a gold mural crown, and is sometimes depicted with golden feathered wings or even a blindfold.

Personality

Tyche is often depicted as an extremely charming and mischievous Deity, revelling in the chaos of chance and the highs and lows that accompany it.

Tyche is said to randomly bestow good fortune on the individuals across the universe, assisting them in their endeavours, while being repeatably counteracted by the actions of the Goddess Nemesis. While others claim that Tyche does not bestow her fortune on others, and instead lets events unfold naturally without her influence.
