High Octane, High Speed
The Duneslicer is a fast vehicle designed to sail through sands. It utilizes a chassis made from lightweight materials, a powerful jet engine, and a series of interconnected rudders to slice and glide through the sand. Duneslicers are made to be low-friction, lightning fast, and capable of short sections of gliding.
The practice was invented in Kajh-Tai during the later part of the The Advent Era. The effort to create the first dune slicers is credited to a group of students attending Yak'koli University.
Humanity brought their engine tech to the massive coral sands of Jhoutai, and when the Kajh got involved, the sport of Duneslicing formed. Dozens of competitors build their own vehicles and race them across the sands.
Racers have to navigate a preset course marked by holographic sticks. These courses involve everything from flat open spaces to let loose, to sharp winding canyon paths that test a racer's ability to navigate. Courses are also planned around jumps and other stunts.
Duneslicer racing brought high octane and high speed first to the sands of Jhoutai. Then, after the Bannercasting, the sport spread to other worlds with similar deserts. Now a days, Duneslicing can be found on any planet with a large enough span of sand.
Nothing beats the stuttering chest-rumbling roars of jet engines firing up at the start of a race. Twelve slicers with sails raised and rudders sunk in.
At the end of the countdown, the air whipped up into a sandstorm. The slicers vanished into the distance, leaving the audience literally in the dust.
Let's go racing!
The Duneslicer
Up to two jet engines are mounted on the Duneslicer, providing its main method of thrust. The engines are limited in terms of maximum output on the vessel, which the Dune Racing League regulates.
The bottom of the Duneslicer has three large rudders. Two of the rudders are located at the back, and the other is centered on the front of the racer. They are all controlled individually by the pilot.
Duneslicers have a sail that can be drawn in certain conditions to allow conservation of fuel or even allow short periods of gliding. It is used in races in conjunction with the dune ramps.

Cost
The Duneslicer is not cheap to produce, nor is it produced at scale. Tolerances on Duneslicers are extremely tight, and so building one requires advanced production lines.
Most professional Duneslicers are built and managed by an entire organization. There are some Duneslicers maintained by private hands, but they are few and far between.
