Vyltazsky King List

The Kings of the old times stay with us. They watch us to our grave while we sit on the metal throne the world rewards so much. They watch our every move to see if we do what is to be done under our ancient duties. While the gold in our lives can be given only by our wills, the privilege on the walls is only given permanently for the righteous and of the the followers of the old Kings.   That is what the list is for.
  -King Eurivich "The Owl"

Purpose

The Vyltazsky King List, as its name suggests, is a official listing of Vyltaric's rulers of the Urlavian Dynasty. Each time a new King comes to power they have their name carved into the walls of the royal palace, and in many cases into their tombs as well.

Document Structure

Clauses

The list is organized by each King or Queen on chronological order. The dates represent the monarchs' rule, rather than whole life, making their ages somewhat mysterious in the early years. After their date to the side, comes their name, epithet, spouse, and accomplishments after.

Historical Details

History

The Vyltazski King List was created by King Ileksar II, seventh ruler of Vyltaric. Probably in order to make a reputation for himself as the first to compile the Kings and to make the family more prestigious, Ileksar ordered the west wall of his tomb to be written over with the list before his death. As the first four kings are mostly shrouded in mystery, those entries were either now long forgotten memories of the early rulers, or folk tales about the Zrabiy people now lost to time and only remembered on the list.   Whatever the reason, the list became the main source for the early Kings and a symbol of the Urlav family's prestige, power, and longevity for years to come.

Legacy

Besides being the only credible source for the first four Kings, the list provides historian an insight into what the various Kings thought of themselves and how they wanted to be portrayed. It today stands as the greatest, most prestigous idea in the city.
