Slammers

A small wax pill containing a powdered magical extract that supplements ones magical abilities or grants access to the weave from someone who does not normally have the ability to do that. They are given to all Aetherium Academy cadets despite the fact that they are highly addictive as well.
Slammers also leave one susceptible to enchantments, which is great if you want an easy way to control unruly young mages.
A Swamper is a defective slammer whose wax coating cracks and the extract leaks onto ones tongue before you swallow the pills. It tastes like someone peed in a glass of swamp water and handed you the glass.
No one knows how the Aetherium makes slammers or what the magical extract is. The 4th year Cadets try to convince the Scrums that the slammers are made with dragons blood that the mages harvest from a brood of dragons in The Dragonspine. If the Scrums bring up the fact that no one has seen a dragon in the mountains for over 200 years. The 4th years just nod and say they would want you to think that wouldn't they.
