Session 20 Report

General Summary

The Crew of the White Hawk and its Casino Friends™ rush to the ship in order to begin departure from this prison. As the group already there brings the ship around to the Casino docks, a few neerdowells attempt to board before everyone arrives. Marilka eldritch BLASTS them (emphasis on blast) 20 feet backward into the water. This seems to deter onlookers from attempting to mess with the docked ship. Inside the Casino, the rest of the party descend floor by floor back to the entrance, stopping to grab some people and things as they approach the front door. As they emerge and finally get back to their ship after 4 long months, they take a brief moment to breathe in the fresh air and sunlight. Captain Oshiro and his crew depart to seek out their ship, returning to the White Hawk in dismay. Their ship is dilapidated and not seaworthy in the slightest. They manage to iron out a deal to be transported to Yud'dha for the small price of 200gp, a price that wont even cover the repairs of the White Hawk, granted that they help out around the ship. As they seal this deal with a dap, they spot a ship in the distance sailing away, also freed from the casino. A large spectral maw breaks the surface of the water all around it, clamping shut over the entire ship and snapping its mainmast like a twig. Spotting the Leviathan's Voyage rounding the docks, the crew decides to cut its brief moment briefer and begin weighing anchor. With a full crew, and far more organization than before, this White Hawk is a far cry from the nautical failure it was back in Veltia. They man their stations and begin to flee. The Leviathan's Voyage spots them immediately and gives chase. The White Hawk attempts to sail away, but Andy jumps to the bow of his ship and casts Control Water, parting the waters in a trench around the ship. With it's prey trapped, the Leviathan's Voyage catches up with ease. With it's opponent now in range of the many magical forces aboard it, the White Hawk unleashes a barrage of spells and attacks against the Leviathan's Voyage. The first of which is Toga, manning one of the ship's aft-facing weapons. He fires recklessly, landing a shot on the bow of the Leviathan's Voyage and blowing the metal figurehead off the stem. Afterward, Brilliance runs the length of the White Hawk, spreading several glowing motes into the air about him. Throwing his arms forward, Brilliance fires the scorching rays at the sails of the Leviathan's Voyage. They slam into the sails, setting them ablaze and destroying them, rendering Andy's ship immobile. Marilka climbs the shrouds of the ship and lets loose multiple bolts of her peculiar magical energy, targeting Andy himself. One slams into his chest, flinging him backward onto the deck of his ship and snapping his concentration on Control Water. From the helm, Daeran unleashes several beams of magic against the hull of the Leviathan's Voyage, peppering it and lowering the integrity of it's bow. Now, with his ship immobilized and his concentration broken, Andy hoists himself up from the deck of his ship and catapults himself back unto the bowsprit, reaching out and extending ancient energy beneath the waves. Three spectral tentacles emerge from the sea, poised to strike at the White Hawk. Granted advantage from the reckless positioning of Toga's attack, they first target it's weapons, crushing the mechanisms used to fire. Having destroyed the White Hawk's weapon systems, Andy orders his crew to rig new sails. They fumble around with the loosing and knotting of the sails, failing to complete it as instructed. Without concentration on the Control Water, the trench created by his magic begin to fill and the sea returns to normal. The White Hawk kicks it into overdrive, once again sailing away at full speed. As they leave the range of the remaining tentacles generated by Andy, the tentacles all attack the ship wildly, causing some damage. Cedric goes below deck to attempt to repair the damages and manages to fix some of the disrepair. As he does, he runs out of materials with which to fix the exterior of the ship. He hurriedly returns above deck to relay this information to the crew as they escape.

Out of the range of The Leviathan's Voyage, the crew of the White Hawk begin their long journey to Yud'dha. Along the way, they do some training, some therapy and some... propaganda? Ronnie's feelings have never been more conflicted in the aftermath of his traumatic marooning in that demiplane. Toga hands the single bullet of the Revolver he found to Cedric, asking if he could replicate it. Cedric takes it and heads below deck to his laboratory, where he removes what was once the golem of Dirk Diamond. But it is changed. It no longer even resembles the golems of the casino, it has been crafted into something else. Something far more advanced, both in magic and machine. Cedric had never seen weapons this refined, nor magic this concentrated. Nonetheless, he sifted through this mess of arcane circuits and bio-mechanical veins. He discovers what he assumes to be a power source, completely drained of magic, and entirely unsalvageable. After doing his best to reform the structure of the creature using pieces of his Steel Defender, Cedric turns his attention to the power source. After a few experiments, he deduces that Feenstein could be a suitable, yet temporary, replacement for its ruined core. When he had finished integrating everything to a device containing several Feenstein shards, the creature began to awaken. Unsure of what he had brought back, Cedric brandished his bonesaw as this alien technology rapidly sat up.

Atop the resin countertop of Cedric's workstation, surrounded by various vials, flasks and papers, power surges through the body of the machine, restoring what one could hardly call a soul. Jolting up, it quickly scanned the area. Different scientific tools and alchemical ingredients line the tables and shelves around the room. Sunlight streams in through a large window in the back, which shows the path the ship carves in the ocean. There are several metal pipes leading out from the walls of the room, seemingly for ventilation. Whistling or chatting from above deck can be heard through them. As it scans, taking in the sights and sounds of the workstation, it turns its attention to the man studying it, taking note of the bonesaw tightly in his grasp. The man stares at it quizzically, slowly loosing his grip from the leather wraps on the handle of his weapon. As the creature atop his workstation seemed to stare back at him, it suddenly snaps its head square with its shoulders, and speaks...
