Session 16 Report

General Summary

After reviewing the records of the casino, there has been a chronological error. For our records, the party met Clay Steel on day 3 at the poker lounge, where they happened to have already completed his quest, A Southern Draw. The party then discovered the dealings with the Navy beneath the casino on day 7 of their adventure, completing the quest Behind the Curtains. Afterward, on day 8, Brilliance cast sending on Ronnie for the first time as well as Twilliam, completing the quest Short Thief, Big Pockets. On day 10, the party heals Ryan and on day 11 they fix Oberon, gaining the Apricot of Knowledge and completing the quest Fruit Doesn't Fall Far. On day 13, they get the earmuffs and begin to see the creatures roaming the casino, completing the quest Gamgeesus Christ. Later that day they eavesdrop on Andy fulfilling a delivery beneath the casino as a Navy captain and learn about the crowning of the Pirate King. On day 15, the party buys the Astendar Ship in the Novelties Counter. This is also the day they retrieve Clay's golem and discover the Pale Hydra, completing the quest I Don Thee Bomble. This brings us to day 17, where we begin our recap. Damn, it seems the Casino's memory altering effects were stronger than we thought.

The party heads to Untold Fortunes, where Brilliance learns where he must seek the truth about that which he worships. "The tricksters tell the truth about you, seek the knowledge of the Fey." They then head to the Oberon Theater to perform Ptelea's The Revival of a Hero. They learn about Aqua, a Human revived by Titania and sent to stop Alloy and Silver from destroying the Feywild. Somehow from both of their pasts, she convinces them to stop and travel with her back to the capital city where Titania awaits them. After the play, Cedric and Toga head to the break room with Clay Steel to hand off Clay's golem. They head into Dirk's room to retrieve some Feenstein for Clay and check up on the case files of their visit to the armory. There they learn that the Casino locks ships in a demiplane when they run out of space at the docks, meaning they will have to gain access to this demiplane to retrieve their ship. Cedric starts a fire to cause a commotion among the Magidrones, burn the cases and cover their tracks. Meanwhile, the rest of the group get out of the play and message Ronnie once again. He sounds terrified and starving. Little is known about Viktor . The party gathers together to and realizes a sense of urgency. They brush past Ty on their way to the Hall of Golems, giving him an seizure, but not before he Knocks the door open for them. Inside they talk for a good while about preparation for their confrontation of Don Bomble and his Magidrones. They decide to split up, almost all heading to a different room and floor to gather people they think they can trust to form a concerted effort to topple the casino. Cedric goes to fetch Katya, Brilliance messages Twilliam and checks in on Cypress who is eager to fight. Toga is unable to recruit Stain Pitt, but gets Wipe Ass and Hoe Punch, arguably more important. But, things begin to go awry. The people around Toga overhear his... not so subtle attempt to recruit Stain. Word is beginning to get out. Whispers are starting to creep through the halls. A coup? When, where? And with that, we cut to Marilka.

Marilka has departed the group to recruit Yuuta Oshiro, captain of the The Tsukkomu, and his crew. She delicately adorns him with the Gamgee Fiber earmuffs they had attained, allowing him to think freely and see clearly the creatures that surround them. He stares for a moment in awe at the pulsating bulb of flesh sprouting from the neck of the pale, veined monsters. Their once human forms, shambling through the halls as their lanky arms nearly drag along the ground. We cut to a closeup of Oshiro's hyper-realistic eye, his overly beautified lashes sway like silk curtains as he blinks. The patterns of his brown irises are that of the northern lights being subject to gravity and pulled by its unseen force deep underground. The curve of his moist oculi reflect the being before him; the Hall Monitor. Marilka reaches out, taking the earmuffs and causing his eyes to briefly shut. When they reopen, no such reflection can be seen in them. Marilka stands before him, eyes reflecting a worse fate. They are not a window to what is, but what will be. A visage of the end. She tells him they will be tearing the casino down. Tomorrow evening, Don Bomble will fall. He nods understandingly, quietly turning back to his work. "We must move subtly, if we are to strike with efficiency." Marilka turns toward the doorway, tilting her head down and smiling knowingly at the ground in front of her. "Indeed," she says before departing. She pauses in the doorway. "Indeed," and is gone.

This full scene flashes through Cedric's mind as he listens to Marilka later in the room. "Then they started chanting 'COUP AT NOON! COUP AT NOON' and I think I convinced them it was for the play... but I doubt it." His eyes are focused on the wall behind her as he snaps back from his imagination. He slowly turns his head, his eyes dragging along the wall until the child comes fully into view. As his eyes focus upon her, he speaks in a calm incredulousness entirely uncharacteristic of the tone within his mind. "...what?"
